Chapter 18
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Ever since she started at the university, she had dreamed of entering Vitality Entertainment, the biggest entertainment company in the city.
However, its recruitment process was exceptionally tough.
Lindsey had planned to use the honor of being the most outstanding graduate as a stepping stone to a job in Vitality Entertainment.
If she didnât win that title, the chances of her entering the company would be very slim.
Therefore, she was determined to not lose to Nina this time.
While deep in thought, Lindsey subconsciously wandered over to the school gate, where a black Honda suddenly stopped in front of her and blocked her way.
Chayce got out of the car and walked to Lindsey with a gentle smile.
âWhatâre you doing here?â
Lindsey frowned and looked at Chayce vigilantly.
She hadnât seen him since she escaped that night.
âI couldnât get in touch with you these past few days, so I came to look for you.
â
Indeed, Chayce had tried calling her countless times, but she never answered.
Resisting the urge to vomit at the sight of his hypocritical face, she said perfunctorily, âOh, I had a lot on my plate lately, so I seldom check my phone.
â
Just as she finished speaking, Chayce suddenly reached out to hold her.
Still vigilant, Lindsey dodged out of subconscious disgust.
âAre you mad at me?â Chayce frowned and lowered his head, looking like a pitiful puppy.
âYou drank so much that night, and I didnât know where you lived, so I took you to a nearby hotel.
Later, I had some urgent matters to attend to, and when I returned, you had disappeared.
I looked for you all night! Do you know how worried I was about you?â
Worried? What worried him was that he couldnât ruin her life that night! A cold smile tugged at the corners of Lindseyâs Lips.
However, in order not to arouse Chayceâs suspicion, she immediately put on the usual innocent and gullible look that was characteristic of the old, naive Lindsey.
âIâm not mad at you,â she said softly.
Seeing that Lindsey had forgiven him, Chayce was ecstatic.
He beamed at her happily and asked, âNo more classes? Let me take you out to dinner.
â
At this, Lindsey immediately shook her head.
âSorry, Iâm on a diet.
I donât eat anything for dinner.
â
âThat doesnât sound healthy.
Besides, youâre already very slim.
You donât need to go on a diet.
â
As Chayce spoke, he reached out to grab Lindseyâs arm.
âCome on, hop in the car.
â
Just then, the president and other leaders of the university were surrounding a man in a casual suit, escorting the latter out of the school gate.
The man happened to glance over in Lindseyâs direction, only to see her being dragged into a car by a young man.
Eyes wide with shock, Emilio wasted no time in taking out his phone and dialing a number.
