Chapter 21
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
âItâs okay,â Domenic replied simply.
âThere arenât any rich women who want to keep me.
â
Seeing that he wasnât mad, Lindsey breathed a sigh of relief.
She shifted her focus back to the menu, and since she could get a 90% discount, she boldly ordered several of the restaurantâs specialties.
As soon as she handed the menu to the waiter, she caught sight of a familiar figure entering the restaurant with a middle-aged man.
It was Nina!
Squinting at her middle-aged companion, Lindsey felt that he Looked a little familiar.
Then, it hit her-this man was Ismael Ballard, the dean of their department!

Lindseyâs seat was facing the door, so if Nina and Ismael came over, they would definitely spot her.
Lindsey quickly racked her brains and came up with an idea.
She lowered her head, snuck around the table, and sat down on the seat next to Domenic, covering her face with her hands.
Observing her strange behavior, Domenic took a quick look at the door and understood something.
He tilted his broad body and covered Lindsey from view.
Sure enough, when Nina passed by arm in arm with Ismael and sat at the next table, they failed to notice that Lindsey was there.
At this time, the waiter served their food.
Lindsey lowered her head and ate quietly, pricking up her ears in an attempt to eavesdrop.
That was when she heard Ninaâs cloying voice say, âHoney, you have to help me.
You canât let Lindsey be valedictorian!â
Ismael reassured her with a doting smile, âDonât worry about her.
Iâll make sure you get this honor.
â
âAw, youâre the best!â Nina gave Ismael a big, wet ki*s.
Ismael wrapped his arm around her waist and said meaningfully, âStay with me tonight.
If you make me happy, Iâll give you anything you want.
â
âYouâre so naughty!â Nina whined coquettishly, pounding his chest.
Lindseyâs hand paused.
No wonder she could never get their scholarshipâs first prize, nor could she get any reasonable explanation from the school administration.
It turned out that Nina had a backer!
Anger surged within Lindsey.
She clenched the fork in her hand and said nothing, her expression turning stormy.
Noticing her gloomy expression, Domenic asked in a low voice, âThey seem to be talking about you.
Do you know them?â
Head lowered, Lindsey stared unwaveringly at the plate in front of her with rage-filled eyes.
âThat woman is Nina Foster.
Sheâs in the same department as me.
The man beside her is Ismael Ballard, the dean of our department.
Nina could never beat me when it came to academics, but she somehow always won the first prize of the schoolâs scholarship every year.
Turns out the dean is her sugar daddy.
This year, I was hoping to win the title of most outstanding graduate, a prestigious award thatâd help me get a good job after graduating.
But now that I know theyâve secretly been pulling strings, I might not get it!â
Upon hearing this, Domenicâs expression also darkened.
As it turned out, he was Zrans Universityâs biggest sponsor, and he had been funding the school scholarship for years now.
Emilio acted as his representative and was the one in charge of contacting the school.
Since Domenic didnât run the operation himself, he didnât expect that such a thing would happen.
Just then, they suddenly heard an indignant shout from the next table.
âThis is your signature dish! What do you mean itâs not available?
Why are you even in business if you canât serve your signature dish?â
It turned out that a dish Nina ordered was sold out.
The waiter had come to explain, but he didnât expect that Nina would throw a tantrum on the spot.
