Chapter 211
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Lindsey brought news of Selah, hinting that Selah sought a personal meeting with him.
Vincentâs composed demeanor gave way to excitement as his eyes brightened.
He got up, leaning on the desk before him, and exclaimed, âReally?! Thatâs amazing! Whenâs she free?â
Lindsey offered a soft smile.
âAnytime,â she said.
She had set a meeting between Vincent and Selah, and now, she hopped into a taxi to head home.
Stepping out of the taxi and shutting the door, she spun around, only to come face-to-face with a figure that was both familiar and strange.
âs BunnyBookery
Her eyes shot open.
âChayce?!â she blurted out in shock.
What was he doing here?
Chayce was dressed in a faded white T-shirt and black jeans, a sneer playing on his lips.
âLong time no see, Lindsey.
Youâre looking smarter and more stunning,â he remarked, his voice dripping with insincerity.
Lindsey had no desire to engage with him and tried to move on.
But Chayce stepped in her way again.
With a flash of irritation in her eyes, Lindsey warned, âMove, or Iâm calling the cops for harassment!â
With that, she brushed past him, not giving him a second glance.
âLindsey Stewart!â Chayce called out from behind her, his voice rough.
âYour fiancé doesnât know about that night, does he?â
At that, Lindsey froze, then slowly turned to face Chayce with a frosty gaze.
âWhat are you getting at?â she asked coldly.
Chayce just smirked.
âNothing.
â He approached Lindsey with a careless swagger.
âIâm a bit short on cash lately.
I need your help.
You know, if it wasnât for me, you wouldnât be getting engaged so quickly or have claimed your motherâs estate, right? Iâve played my part.
Itâs only fair I get something out of it.
â
Lindsey let out a mocking laugh.
âIâve met some pretty shameless people, you top them all! Letâs get one thing straight.
I want nothing to do with you anymore.
Donât expect to get anything from me With that, Lindsey turned around to leave.
Chayce, seething with anger, called out to her back, âWhat do you think your fiancé would say if he knew about your wild night with a stranger?â
Lindsey paused in her tracks, which only made Chayce more forceful.
âYou have two days to think it over.
Pay me, and Iâll bury the secret forever.
But if you donât, donât blame me for what comes next.
â
Chayce was sure Lindsey would cave, but she didnât even turn around, dismissing him, âWhatever.
â
Reaching the door, Lindsey switched to slippers and caught sight of the table from the previous night.
It was a reminder of her passionate moment with Domenic.
She sighed and dropped her handbag on the table.
