Chapter 222
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Shortly after Lindsey sent the correction, Domenic called her.
Lindseyâs heart raced.
After hesitating for a while, she picked up the phone and said, âHello, Mr.
Walsh.
â
âWho else wants to know your measurements?â Domenic asked in a raspy voice, âTell me, and Iâll teach that man a lesson when I return.
â
Lindsey hadnât anticipated Domenic to be so straightforward, but it seemed that he had misunderstood something.
âNo, Mr.
Walsh, youâre reading too much into it! Itâs Selah.
Weâre attending Vincent and his wifeâs anniversary party this weekend.
Since I helped her before, she wanted to make me a dress and asked for my measurements.
I just donât know how I ended up sending them to youâ¦â
As Lindsey explained in a rushed and flustered manner, Domenic responded with a low, amused chuckle.
âAre you so worried Iâll think youâre involved with another man?â
Domenic was deliberately teasing her, wasnât he?
Lindsey blushed immediately.
Why did she have to explain herself to him? It wasnât her business who she was texting!
âNo, Iâm just clarifying the situation! And, by the way, did you have a smooth journey?â Lindsey quickly changed the topic.
Domenicâs voice, deep and resonant, almost seemed to caress her ear.
âAre you concerned about me? Then⦠Are you thinking of me?â
His tone carried a seductive, playful undertone that made Lindseyâs face blush.
Lindseyâs heart was beating wildly, but she tried her best to calm down.
âYes, I do think of you.
â
It never crossed Domenicâs mind that Lindsey would say that.
He chuckled in surprise and said, âReally? What exactly do you think about me?â
âIâm thinking about when youâll return so I can give back your necklace.
â
The flirtatious mood vanished in an instant.
There was a brief silence on the other end.
If not for the faint sound of breathing, Lindsey might have thought he had hung up.
As Lindsey pondered what to say next, Domenicâs voice came through again, this time much colder.
âGot it.
Iâve landed safely, so donât worry.
â
After a short pause, he added, âNext time, be sure you really mean what you say before speaking.
â
As soon as Domenic finished his deep and cold words, the line went dead with a disconnected tone.
Lindsey gazed blankly at her phone.
Realizing the call had ended, she slumped back onto the sofa, feeling utterly drained.
