Chapter 269
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Was this man the one Lindsey ran to that night after being drugged?
They had been in cahoots all this time? But why he had the nerve to show up at the engagement party?
The truth hit Chayce like a brick.
Lindsey had played him for a fool, and he was the last to know.
Heâd been made to look like a complete idiot.
Brushing off his hand, now dirty from the scuffle with Chayce, Domenic returned to Lindseyâs side and offered his hand.
âLetâs head back.
â
Lindsey, still reeling, glanced at Domenic and placed her hand in his.
They vanished from view as Chayce slowly picked himself up, tasting blood in his mouth.
That was when he heard applause and saw Shelia approaching from a distance.
Lifting his gaze, he saw her.
Shelia had driven by, spotted them, stopped her car, and watched in secret.
She hadnât anticipated such a dramatic revelation.
She couldnât contain her laughter.
âWhat a show Iâve stumbled upon.
â
Chayce got to his feet, bloodied mouth and all, and fixed his gaze on Shelia.
âWhat are you doing here? Whereâs Kendra?â
âMomâs under tight watch by Dad at home.
You wonât be seeing her.
â
Shelia stared at Chayce with a hint of disdain.
âChayce, forget about my family.
Donât you see who you should really be worrying about? I thought you werenât interested in Lindsey, but it turns out youâve been made a fool by her.
Thatâs just sad.
â
Shelia burst into a loud, mocking laugh.
âShut up!â Chayce, feeling offended, yelled, âSheâs such a bitch.
I canât believe sheâd cheat on me.
â
With her arms folded, Shelia let out a scornful snort.
âTheyâre in love, and theyâre successful.
Look at yourself.
Youâre out of work.
But then again⦠You got cheated on and beaten up.
Deep down, you donât really hate her, do you?â
Chayce balled his hands into fists.
Of course, he hated her.
He despised Lindsey with every fiber of his being.
It was all Lindseyâs fault that his life was ruined.
Now, he had nothing to hold over Lindsey anymore.
He couldnât get any more money out of her.
âIf I were in your shoes, Iâd make whoever hurt me suffer double.
If Iâm going through tough times, Iâm not going through them alone.
But then again⦠I doubt a coward Like you could ever do that.
â
Sheliaâs biting words felt like a knife in Chayceâs heart.
Through gritted teeth, he said, âIâm not going to let Lindsey get away with this.
But she has that new guy with herâ¦â
âHeâs just a pretty face, nothing to worry about,â Shelia remarked with contempt.
