Chapter 306
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Selah was recalling the incident when Elaine had bitten Lindsey.
âIâve met her already.
Weâre not strangers to each other.
I think sheâll be less cautious around me this time.
Selah, this chance is too good to miss.
â
After their last meeting, Selah had spent time telling Elaine about Lindseyâs help.
She noticed Elaineâs attitude softening and that she didnât seem to dislike Lindsey anymore.
With this in mind, Selah agreed, âAlright.
Linds, thank you.
â
After ending the call, Lindsey wore an apologetic look as she quickly filled Ruby in on Selahâs situation and her need to rush off and help.
Ruby, with her ever-understanding demeanor, replied, âNo worries, Iâm not too busy today.
Take your time, itâs okay to delay our plans a bit.
â
Lindsey appreciated Rubyâs kindness and flexibility.
She thanked her and swiftly left the classroom.
As she vanished down the hallway of the teaching building, Domenic emerged from around the corner.
He had been secretly following Lindsey today, wanting to make sure that her meeting was truly with Ruby Garcia.
It turned out, it really was her.
Ruby was well-acquainted with his uncles, particularly his second uncle.
Domenic didnât want Lindsey getting involved with his uncles, known for their cunning and deceitful ways, nor did he want her to learn about his troubled past.
He also feared that if his uncles discovered Lindsey, they would drag her into their dangerous, shadowy conflicts.
Domenicâs eyes turned cold and sharp, and he left the building in a different direction.
Just as Lindsey hopped into a taxi, her phone rang with a call from Domenic.
âHello,â Lindsey greeted him softly and warmly.
Domenicâs tone turned gentle.
âHowâs everything going today? Is there anything I can help you with? Iâm not busy, so Iâm here if you need anything.
â
Lindsey mulled over her situation.
It was her first time taking care of a child, and her previous interaction with Elaine hadnât gone well.
âWell, have you⦠ever taken care of a child before?â Lindsey inquired cautiously.
Caught off guard, Domenic queried, âLooking after a child? Whom are you going to take care of?â
Lindsey explained, âItâs about Elaine, Selahâs daughter.
Their regular nanny is unavailable today due to some personal matters, and hiring a replacement might upset Selah.
So, I thought Iâd step in.
But to be honest, Iâm worried I might not be able to properly handle the little girl.
Do you have any experience or advice in taking care of children that you could share with me?â
âWell⦠Kids often love amusement parks.
Thereâs a good one I know; we could take her there,â Domenic responded.
âThatâs a fantastic idea! An amusement park sounds perfect for a child her age!â
Lindsey Liked his suggestion but then paused and said, âHold on.
Did you just say âweâ? Do you mean you want to join us?â
