Chapter 332
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
As Sumner watched Paigeâs figure gradually disappear, he stood in the wind for an extended period, lost in thought.
During their journey home, Lindsey and Domenic maintained a silent atmosphere, exchanging no words.
The moment Domenic stepped into the apartment, he slipped on his slippers, headed straight for the bathroom, and securely locked the door behind him.
Domenic turned on the tap, repeatedly splashing cold water on his face.
With his hands on either side of the sink, he let the water trickle down his face, attempting to ease the tension.
He undid the button on his collar, making a conscious effort to quell the anger fueled by feelings of jealousy and suspicion.
He took several deep breaths and dried his face with a towel before opening the bathroom door.
Upon opening the door, he found Lindsey waiting for him at the door.
Lindsey and Domenic exchanged looks, each gauging the other.
After a brief silence, Lindsey was the first to speak.
âDo you really think my meeting with Sumner today was no coincidence?
Do you believe I intentionally met him without your knowledge?â
Domenic observed Lindsey, who defiantly held her head high, her face showing clear grievance and her eyes slightly red.
Domenic felt a sharp twinge of pain.
What was he to say? Denying it would mean deceiving her, and acknowledging it would indicate
doubts.
He didnât want to doubt her, nor did he want to lie to her.
Domenic pressed his Lips together, choosing not to respond.
He moved past Lindsey, heading for the Living room.
âDomenic Walsh!â Lindsey chased after him, blocking his path.
âIf youâre upset, speak up.
Donât just walk away without saying anything.
I really donât Like that about you!â
Domenic halted abruptly, his pain turning into a bitter smile.
He turned around, facing Lindsey with a forced smile, and said, âYou donât Like that about me? What do you like then? A man like Sumner?â
Lindseyâs eyes widened in disbelief.
âYou are being unreasonable!â
He was being unreasonable? He had been holding back his anger, trying to consider her feelings, planning to internalize it alone.
Did she understand the kind of person he was? That only Lindsey could drive him to such extremes!
How could she accuse him of being unreasonable?
