Chapter 37
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
The next second, the chaos broke loose in the banquet hall.
âLindsey looks pure and innocent! I never wouldâve thought she had such a tumultuous private life!â
âYou know what they say-you canât judge a book by its cover!â
Ignoring the crowdâs side comments, Lindsey locked eyes with Nina coldly.
âDo you have any evidence?â
âOf course! Otherwise, I would never openly accuse you in front of all these people!â The corners of Ninaâs mouth curved upward in a vicious grin.
Snapping her fingers confidently, a man dressed in a waiterâs uniform suddenly approached.
âThis man works at Harmony Hotel.
Tell us, sir, what you saw on the evening of June 2nd.
â
The man lowered his head and said with hesitation, âOn the night of June 2nd, I⦠I witnessed Miss Stewart entering a manâs room and didnât come out until the following morning.
â
With a satisfied grin, Nina pointed a finger at Lindsey and shouted, âSee? Our witness says he saw you entering a manâs room in the middle of the night.
Donât tell me that you two stayed up all night just âtalkingâ.
Tell us-who is that man? He wasnât your fiancé, was he?â
As if on cue, Chayce immediately put on an overly exaggerated Look of distress, his face twisting in pain.
âLindsey, did you cheat on me?â
Lindsey found this whole farce so ridiculous that she nearly laughed out loud.
These people were so good at twisting situations to make themselves look good! She was the one who had been betrayed, yet they managed to make her look like the bad guy while her cheating boyfriend looked like the victim.
How could she let them get away with this?
Lindsey calmly stepped forward and looked down at Nina, who was standing right in front of the stage.
âItâs his word against mine, and itâs easy enough to bribe someone into talking nonsense, you know.
â
Then she shifted her gaze to the waiter and said, âTell me how much they paid you, and Iâll
double it as long as you tell everyone here the truth.
â
âI- I am telling the truth!â The waiter raised his head and looked at Lindsey defiantly, showing no fear.
As he did see Lindsey running out of Domenicâs room that morning, he naturally assumed that she had willingly entered the room the previous evening.
âYou want more proof? Fine.
How about this?â
As she spoke, Nina held up her phone and played a video.
On Ninaâs phone screen was a woman that looked a lot like Lindsey; she even wore the same outfit Lindsey had worn on the night in question.
The video clearly captured the woman entering a hotel room, arm-in-arm with a man.
But the CCTV only managed to capture the woman from behind, so she was obscured all throughout the short clip.
Nina held the phone in front of the waiter and asked, âIs the woman in this video the same one onstage?â
The waiter nodded earnestly.
âItâs her! Iâm sure of it.
The woman also wore a floral dress on that day!â
At this, the audience burst into an uproar.
âCountless women couldâve worn the same dress.
Do you really think you can convince everyone that the woman in the video is me? Well, think again, Nina.
â Lindsey still remained completely unfazed.
