Chapter 376
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Catching sight of him, Lindsey nudged Selah with a meaningful look.
âLooks like someoneâs here for you, Selah.
Iâll leave you to it.
Iâve got to rush back and get that contract ready!â
âHold on, Lindsey!â Selah tried to leave, but Lindsey was quick on her feet and slipped away before she could be stopped.
Arturo moved quickly, getting to Selah and gently taking hold of her shoulders, scanning her for any sign of injury.
âSelah, are you alright? Letâs get you to the hospital to make sure everythingâs okay,â he suggested with concern.
Ever since Selahâs accident, Arturo had been deeply concerned about her well-being, refusing to leave.
He had witnessed the crash firsthand and understood the seriousness of the collision.
Selah had barely managed to escape from the wrecked car.
Selah shook her head, insisting, âIâm okay, really.
Thereâs no need for all that fuss.
â
But before she could walk away, Arturo caught her wrist, spun her around, and gently but firmly pressed her against the car window.
âWhy are you being so disobedient now?â he asked, his striking eyes revealing a flicker of frustration.
Back when they were at the Yatesâ place, Arturo would always speak to her in a playful, teasing tone, urging her, âSelah, be obedient.
â
Every time she heard him utter those words, regardless of the request, sheâd gladly do it for him.

That even included the night she was thrown out of the Yatesâ house.
Arturo, a little drunk, had cradled her in his arms and murmured, âBe obedient.
â
She had complied with his every request.
But all her compliance led to that night when his father slapped and berated her, and Arturo did nothing but stand there in silence, offering her no defense.
Selah leaned casually against the car window, a hint of a mocking smile on her face.
âHey Arturo, wake up.
Iâm not a maid of your family anymore.
Why should I listen to you?â
The woman standing before him shone brighter than she ever did in the Yates household, yet her eyes were cold, devoid of the warmth and softness they once held.
Arturo felt a wave of anger wash over him.
He seized Selahâs arm, yanked the car door open, and pushed her inside.
âArturo Yates, stop it! I didnât agree to go with you.
Let me out!â
Selahâs protest was fierce.
Ignoring her struggle, Arturo shut the door, locked it, and slid into the driverâs seat.
The car roared to life and zoomed off.
Lindsey, after handling urgent matters back at the company, rode the elevator to Joshâs office.
She had plans to talk to him about Selahâs contract.
Reaching Joshâs door, she found it ajar.
She was about to knock when a voice she recognized halted her in her tracks.
