Chapter 399
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Lindsey hadnât laid eyes on Domenic in several days, and he seemed even more striking than she remembered.
Clad in a black overcoat and a well-fitting black suit, Domenic entered to find Lindsey on the floor, injured and vulnerable.
His eyes narrowed at the sight.
Then he looked at Chayce, with a murderous look in his deep eyes.
Domenicâs intense presence made Chayceâs skin crawl.
He backed away nervously, stammering, âWhat⦠What are you doing here? This is my yacht⦠Ah!â
But before Chayce could finish, Domenic lunged at him, landing a solid punch on his face and sending him crashing to the floor.
Chayce wiped blood from his mouth and scrambled to his feet.
He had underestimated Domenic, viewing him solely as a man with nothing but a pretty face.
Gripping the knife from the table, Chayce swung it viciously at Domenic.
In a state of panic, Lindsey cried out, âWatch out!â
Domenic deftly sidestepped Chayceâs attack and seized the moment to land a kick directly on Chayceâs face.
Chayceâs two front teeth flew out instantly.
Domenic then pressed his polished leather shoe firmly against Chayceâs face, applying crushing pressure.
Chayce could only whimper in pain under Domenicâs foot.
As his arm was grabbed, Domenicâs chilling voice echoed above him.
âIs this the hand you used to hurt her?â
In terror, Chayce shook his head, but a scream of agony escaped him as his arm was broken.
It was only then that Chayce understood the terrifying nature of the man he faced.
Since he was no match for Domenic, he desperately tried to flee.
Chayce grabbed a knife from the floor and sliced at Domenicâs ankle.
As Domenic stepped back, Chayce scrambled up and bolted out.
Domenic didnât chase after him, because there were his men outside the cabin.
Even if Chayce went out, he couldnât escape at all.
Domenic hurried over to Lindsey.
He quickly untied the ropes binding her, dr@ped his coat over her to cover her exposed body, and gently gathered her into his arms.
Looking at Lindsey, her body marred with injuries, Domenicâs heart felt as though it was being stabbed with a knife.
He had come too late.
His eyebrows twitched ever so slightly as Domenic clasped Lindseyâs pale hand firmly.
Lindsey weakly opened her eyes to see the pained expression on his face.
She mustered a faint smile.
âWhy do you have such an expression? Do I⦠appear that awful now?â
Domenicâs heart felt like it was being ripped in two.
He shook his head and embraced her tightly and said, âIâm so sorry, Linds.
Iâm sorry⦠Itâs all my fault.
I should have been here sooner.
Why didnât I take you home earlier?â
âYouâre holding me too tight.
â
Upon hearing her voice, he instantly loosened his hold and cradled her gently in his arms.
