Chapter 447
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
With a serene smile, Kristy said, âThis gentleman is my motherâs attorney.
My stepmother has claimed that I stole family funds, but in truth, it was the money bestowed by my mother.
Coincidentally, the attorney arrived today.
Hereâs the will to prove it.
Look closely and donât be swayed by one-sided stories.
â
Lindsey was ready for Kendraâs drama at the ceremony and had planned accordingly.
At Lindseyâs cue, the lawyer presented Juanitaâs will.
It listed one receiver to her estate.
It was Lindsey.
Lindsey explained, âThe money from my mother funded my company.
My stepmother eyes my assets, twisting the truth.
Instead of marrying the cheat she chose for me, I found a trustworthy partner.
Yet, sheâs turned that into scandal, aiming to tarnish my name and take away the money.
Regarding the breaking off of the parent-child relationshipâ¦â
Lindseyâs gaze shifted to Benny, her eyes stripped of innocence and reliance, replaced by disappointment and coldness.
âMy father feared my business would falter and affect him, so he suggested we cut ties first.
He chose his new family over me.
Tell me, whoâs truly heartless?â
Her voice was detached and firm, sending shivers through the crowd who hadnât foreseen this turn of events.
Benny, flustered, stammered, âI⦠I never said such things.
â
Lindsey, with a dismissive wave, held her phone up to him.
âI recorded your words yesterday.
Should I play them for everyone to hear?â
Yesterday, Benny used far too many words.
If Lindsey had played the recording of their conversation, Bennyâs reputation would have been completely ruined.
âBenny, donât believe her.
She didnât record anything.
It was just a bluff.
â
Kendra fixed her gaze on Lindsey, her eyes widening in surprise.
Little did she anticipate that Lindseyâs lawyer had joined the ceremony too.
It appeared as though Lindsey had been one step ahead, well aware of her intentions, and had strategically positioned herself to counter her moves.
However, Kendra couldnât believe Lindsey had really recorded their conversation.
âIf you have it, play the recording.
I donât believe you have one.
â
Kendra shouted.
Lindsey smirked and pressed play on her phone, and suddenly, Bennyâs voice filled the roomâ¦
âThatâs it!â Benny, turning sharply, slapped Kendra across the face.
He snapped, âYou donât think Iâm embarrassing enough, do you?â
âBennyâ¦â Kendra, dizzy from the slap, nearly toppled over.
She clutched her face, tears streaming, and tried to speak but was silenced by Bennyâs sharp look.
Observing Kendraâs distress, Lindsey stopped the playback, sparing Benny further embarrassment.
Bennyâs reaction, however, seemed to confirm Lindseyâs earlier claims.
The conversation took a new turn.
âSo, the stepmother is to blame.
Sheâs truly malicious, eager to destroy her stepdaughter.
â
