Chapter 465
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
He was definitely coming down with something, and it wasnât anything minor.
With a deep sigh, Mercer shut his eyes, willing his mind to go blank.
Selah, a bit flushed from the drinks, was dropped off at her place by Nicolas.
The hint of red made her look even more enchanting.
Nicolas seemed to watch her a lot, whether he meant to or not.
He seemed like he wanted to say something the entire ride, but he kept silent.
As they pulled up to Selahâs apartment building in the fancy car, Nicolas was just about to open the door for Selah when something caught his eye outside.
He just froze.
Selah didnât move to open the door either.
She turned to see Nicolas staring intently outside, a deep look in his eyes.
âNicolas, is something wrong?â she asked.
With a nod of his chin towards the outside, Nicolas said, âArturoâs here.
â
Then he unlocked the car door.
Selahâs grip on the handle tightened, and her body tensed up in the seat.
Noticing her pale face, Nicolasâs cold look grew even sharper.
âIf you donât want to face him, stay put.
I can take you away to hide for a bit.
â
But Selah bit her lip silently and held on to the car door.
She managed a weak but composed smile at Nicolas.
âThanks, but you donât have to worry about me.
This is my problem.
I should head in.
See you around.
â
With that, she pushed the door open and stepped out of the car.

Nicolas didnât leave right away.
Instead, he peered through the dark window at the two figures outside.
âWhy are you here?â Selah approached Arturo with a questioning look.
Catching sight of the fancy car by the curb, a slick grin spread across Arturoâs face.
He seized Selahâs wrist, drew her close, and ki*sed her swiftly.
Nicolasâ eyes fluttered shut, and he jerked his head to the side.
His hands clenched the steering wheel, his knuckles white, his eyes stormy.
He floored the gas pedal, speeding away.
Selah, pressed against Arturoâs solid frame, struggled to break free, but he was immovable, holding her firmly.
Frustrated, she bit his tongue sharply.
Arturo winced, a trickle of blood running from his lip, but he didnât stop, his ki*s growing more intense.
The tang of blood filled their mouths, and Selah gasped for air.
Finally, Arturo let her go, looking down at her.
âHave you lost your mind?â Selahâs voice shook with anger.
Arturo, blood on his lips, stared coldly at her.
âIf I hadnât shown up, would you have invited that guy in? So, youâve been pushing me away because youâve got someone else!â
