Chapter 529
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Sitting beside Lindsey, Leonel offered a reassuring smile.
âI told you.
You will know my name sooner or later.
â
âProfessorâ¦â Lindsey suddenly hesitated, unsure of what to call him.
âJust call me by my name.
â he offered, stretching out his hand to gently ruffle Lindseyâs hair.
It was a gesture heâd employed when she was a child, and back then, Lindsey would trail after him everywhere.
After a pause, Lindseyâs voice emerged, distant yet yielding.
âLeonel.
â
Leonel smiled tenderly, while Juanita observed with satisfaction.
âLinds, Iâve heard about what happened to you recently.
Iâll be staying for a while.
If you encounter any problems, feel free to let me know,â Leonel assured her.
Lindsey nodded silently.
âJuanita, why hasnât he come yet?â Ruby interjected, shifting the conversation.
Juanita glanced at her wrist, checking the time.
âHe should be here soon.
â
Who would be coming? Lindsey wondered.
As she pondered, the door to the private room swung open.
âMs.
Lopez, I apologize for my tardiness.
Thereâs quite a traffic snarl on the road.
I am sincerely sorry,â the man uttered politely and with a gentle demeanor.
Lindsey lifted her head towards the door and noticed Sumner standing there clad in a light-colored T-shirt.
When their gazes met, both were taken aback.
âHere you are, Sumner!â As soon as Juanita caught sight of Sumner, she rose and extended a warm welcome to him.
âLet me introduce everyone here to you.
â
Juanita clasped Sumnerâs wrist, embarking on the introductions.
âThis is Ruby Garcia.
â
Sumner nodded at Ruby with a genial smile and greeted her warmly, âNice to meet you, Ms.
Garcia.
â
Sumner drew a faint narrowing of Rubyâs eyes.
He bore a striking resemblance to her beloved student, and she found herself instantly fond of him.
âI wonât introduce this one to you; you already know him.
â
Even though Juanita skipped over Leonel, Sumner politely acknowledged him, âLeonel.
â
Leonel reciprocated with a nod and a smile.
