Chapter 592
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
âWell, Sumner is quite the catch.
â
Lindsey meaningfully patted the back of Xiomaraâs hand, then pivoted to snatch an apple from the bedside table and peel it.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
Had Sumner come back for something?
Lindsey set aside the apple, got to her feet, strolled over to the door, and swung it open.
But instead of Sumner, she was greeted by a man she didnât recognize.
He looked in his fifties, dressed in an expensive black overcoat, exuding the aura of a high-ranking character from a TV drama.
Lindsey glanced at him, feeling a flutter of anxiety.
âYou areâ¦â
The man wore a friendly smile.
It melted away a good portion of his frosty demeanor.
âYou are Lindsey Stewart, arenât you?â
His words held a gentle and kind tone.
Lindsey felt less tense than she had moments ago.
Lindsey gave a nod and inquired, âWho might you be?â
âI happen to be Domenicâs uncle.
â
Rupert had set out to track down Lindsey at her workplace.
But when he got wind of her being at this hospital, he wasted no time rushing there.
Lindseyâs eyes opened wide in astonishment.
This man was Domenicâs uncle?
Lindsey remembered Domenic telling her about his uncles Locking him in a cellar and starving him for ten days, nearly killing him.
He didnât even consider them family.
As she pondered this, Lindseyâs attitude towards this man shifted to vigilance.
Why did Domenicâs uncle come here?
âWhat do you need?â Lindsey asked, her voice growing colder.
Rupert offered a smile and strolled past her, entering the ward.
He cast a glance at Xiomara, who lay on the bed.
His voice remained calm and gentle.
âDomenic has told me much about you.
I wanted to see the woman whoâs caught his attention.
â
Rupert turned back to Lindsey, smiling, âI see now.
Youâre both beautiful and intelligent.
Iâve heard your companyâs facing troubles.
If you need assistance, donât hesitate.
Weâre practically family now.
