Chapter 611
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Where were you when she needed you?â
Domenicâs fists tightened, and his face remained unreadable, which made him look quite lonely.
He didnât reply to Sumnerâs question.
Instead, he said calmly, âI want to see her.
â
Yet, as he moved toward the door, Sumnerâs hand blocked him.
The anger in Sumnerâs eyes was clear.
âShe doesnât want to see you.
â
Domenic halted and looked up at the cold gaze of the man in front of him.
âDid she tell you that?â
Sumner stared back at Domenic, a mocking smile on his face.
âDoes it matter? You shouldnât even think about seeing her.
Youâre her boyfriend, you were supposed to be there for her, yet you hid away.
Youâve lost any right to be by her side.
â
With every word, Sumnerâs voice grew more heated, his face flushed with intensity.
Deep down, he believed Domenic was unworthy of Lindsey.
Domenicâs Adamâs apple bobbed slightly, and his lips moved lightly.
But finally, he couldnât say a word.
His hands were clenched so tightly that the veins on the back stood out.
After what felt like an eternity, his grip finally eased.
He looked at Sumner and said simply, âLook after her.
â
With that, he turned and walked away.
Domenic had actually checked on Lindseyâs condition with the doctor before approaching her room.
Knowing she was stable brought him a sigh of relief.
âCoward!â Sumnerâs voice was a quiet growl as he watched Domenic walk away.
Domenic then returned to the apartment he shared with Lindsey.
He slumped onto the couch, lighting cigarettes one after another.
The smoke veiled his face, and the glow of the burning embers dropped to the floor, littering it with spent cigarettes.
His gaze drifted to the kitchen, a space filled with unfulfilled promises with Lindsey.
Over recent years, Domenic had carved out a realm for himself in the business world.
Whatever he set his mind to, he made happen.
Yet, he hadnât managed to do something quite so simple.
He reached for his phone and rang up Hendrix, saying, âTell the Morcastle Central Hospital to keep a close watch on Lindsey and Juanita.
Also, look into what caused todayâs fire in Juanitaâs apartment.
â
Feeling helpless, he resorted to issuing commands, the only action that came instinctively to him.
After a long time, it was already dark outside the window.
Domenic fell.
on the couch, and the light of his cigarette was still flickering.
He didnât turn on the light, so his face could not be seen in the dark.
