Chapter 76
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
âItâs mot your fault, Lynne.
â Lindsey comforted her gently.
âThis world is just so unfair.
â
Lynne couldnât swallow her grievances any longer.
She burst into tears and sobbed bitterly until she ran out of breath.
Just then, someone handed Lindsey a bottle of water from behind.
Lindsey turned around in surprise, only to see Domenic standing behind her.
He then passed her a pack of hangover relief pills.
âItâll help her sober up.
â
She thought he had left, but it turned out he had simply slipped away briefly to buy water and hangover relief pills.
Lindsey took it and asked Lynne to take the pills.
âThank you.
I feel much better now.
â Lynne gave Lindsey a weak smile.
Then, she looked at the man behind Lindsey and asked, âIs this your boyfriend?â
Embarrassed, Lindsey hurriedly waved her hand and explained, âNo, no.
Weâre just friends!â
At this, Domenicâs expression darkened.
In a gruff, indifferent voice, he said, âSince thereâs nothing else, Iâll go head.
â
But after taking two steps, he suddenly turned around and added, âDonât come home too late, or youâll be locked out.
â
Huh? Lindsey was confused.
Locked out?
Lynne chuckled knowingly.
âSo, you two live together, but heâs not your boyfriend?â
âHe really isnât-â
âAlright, alright.
You donât have to explain it to me.
Iâm fine now, and I can go home by myself.
â Lynne stood up and looked back at the club.
âDid you come here with your âfriendâ?â
Only then did Lindsey remember that she was here to celebrate Nancyâs birthday.
Her face fell, knowing full well that Nancy would give her an earful for leaving the party for so long!
âWell, if youâre sure youâre going to be alright, Iâll go back inside.
â
After Lynne left, Lindsey went back to the private room, wringing her hands nervously.
To her surprise, as soon as she opened the door to the private room, she found Nancy knocked out drunk on the sofa.
She had no choice but to send Nancy back home first.
It was already late at night by the time she made it back to the apartment.
Thinking that Domenic mustâve fallen asleep by now, Lindsey quietly opened the door and crept inside.
To her surprise, he was wide awake, reading a magazine on the sofa in the living room.
âMr.
Walsh, itâs so late.
Why havenât you gone to bed yet?â
Unexpectedly, Domenic didnât answer.
He simply put down the magazine in his hand, turned off the lights, and went to his bedroom, shutting the door behind him.
