Chapter 80
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Lynne patted Lindsey on the shoulder and went straight to business.
âEveryone here tonight is a top figure in the entertainment circle.
If you can get acquainted with them, your career will be nudged along nicely.
Donât let this golden opportunity slip, okay?â
After that, Lynne helped Lindsey mingle with the guests, introducing her to several directors and producers she was familiar with.
Lindsey interacted with them with confidence and composure, showing just how professional she was.
However, the big shots that held real power in the entertainment circle were already surrounded by people.
Lynne and Lindsey couldnât find any opportunity to get close to them.
It was no secret that these kinds of parties were just avenues for people to network.
Whether or not one could win the favor of the big shots depended on their own abilities and the latterâs moods.
After socializing for a while, Lynne led Lindsey away from the crowd.
Jerking her chin toward the crowd in front of them, she said, âWell, those were all the people I know.
The rest will be up to you.
Do you see that woman over there-the one in the splendid gown? Thatâs Paige Lopez, Director Lopezâs wife.
â
Lindseyâs eyes went as wide as saucers.
âYou mean Vincent Lopez? The legendary director who broke the countryâs box office record and hasnât been surpassed until now?â
Lynne smiled.
âYes.
â
âOh, my God!â Lindseyâs jaw dropped in disbelief.
âBeing cast in one of his projects is every actorâs dream.
But the thing is, he doesnât give a damn about the actorâs fame and popularity.
As long as he feels that a particular actor suits a character well, then that actor is set for life.
Even the most prominent artists in our company are rarely cast in his projects.
If we can rub shoulders with him, weâll not only double our artistsâ chances at fame, but weâll have access to better resources.
If every actor dreams of being in his films, every agent dreams of their actor being chosen for his films.
â
Lynneâs eyes were full of expectation and regret.
She had tried countless times to forge a relationship with the director Vincent Lopez, but it was futile.
âLindsey, in the entertainment industry, if you donât have a strong background, winning his favor is the easiest path to becoming a powerhouse of an agent.
However, itâs way easier said than done.
â
Lynne sighed helplessly.
Seeing Lindseyâs bright eyes brimming with determination, she said, âI wasnât able to succeed, but maybe you will.
The question is: are you brave enough to try?â
Lindsey pursed her lips, with unyielding confidence in her eyes.
After giving Lynne a firm nod, she solemnly walked toward the directorâs wife Paige Lopez.
Lindsey didnât strike up a conversation with Paige right away.
Instead, she stood aside and observed Paigeâs behavior from afar.
The latter showed a very elegant and mature temperament when talking with others.
However, Lindsey noticed that she would occasionally scratch her nose with her right index finger, and that she seemed to sniffle from time to time.
Her nose and cheeks were slightly red, and she deliberately refused whenever others would offer her a glass of wine.
Lindsey also noticed that she would glance at the buffet table aside occasionally, as though she was looking for something.
Finally, Lindsey came up with a plan of action.
She stopped a waiter and asked, âExcuse me, can I have a glass of honey water?â
The waiter nodded.
âOkay, please wait a moment.
â
Then Lindsey took out her phone from her bag and ordered something online.
Ten minutes later, her package was delivered and she walked toward Paige confidently, a glass of honey water in tow.
Paige was just excusing herself from the other guests politely when Lindsey suddenly offered her the glass of honey water.
âMrs.
Lopez, would you Like some honey water? Itâll help sober you up.
â
