Chapter 902
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Reece glanced at his phone, leaning back against the seat, his gaze fixed on the screen as he waited patiently for Lindseyâs return.
Raising his eyes from his phone, Reeceâs heart sank at the sight of
Lindseyâs pale complexion and swollen eyes, evidence of recent tears shed in solitude.
Reece, a bit startled, asked, âMiss Stewart, are you alright?â
Bunny Bookery
Lindsey shook her head weakly, eyes hollow.
She glanced at the empty seat before Reece and sat down opposite him.
âDomenic and Carole just left.
They asked me to let you know,â Reece said.
Lindsey nodded, then looked up and asked, âMr.
Barton, have you decided about our earlier discussion?â
Reece felt his heart skip a beat.
Lindseyâs question brought back
Caroleâs words to him.
Reece grabbed the glass of water before him and took a sip, needing a moment to gather his thoughts.
Finally, he answered, âI can help you.
â
âThatâs wonderful.
I feel much more at ease knowing youâre helping.
â
Lindsey attempted a smile, but it came out more as a grimace.
Avoiding her gaze, Reece cleared his throat and said, âItâs getting late.
Letâs wrap up for today.
You can send me the details when youâre ready.
â
âOkay.
â Lindsey stood, then hesitated.
âAbout the legal fees.
âDonât worry about that now.
Weâll discuss it later.
â
Reece put on his coat, and Lindsey did the same.
They walked out together.
Reece kept glancing at Lindsey.
Her face was deathly pale, and she remained silent.
Reece had always thought highly of Lindsey.
Could she really be the manipulative person Carole described?
As they reached the entrance, Lindsey suddenly felt weak and almost toppled over.
Reece instinctively caught her by the side.
âAre you alright?â
Lindsey felt a severe headache coming on.
Her vision blurred, and she felt herself fading.
âTake me to⦠the hospitalâ¦â
Before she could finish, she slumped into Reeceâs arms.
When Lindsey opened her eyes again, she found herself lying in a hospital bed under observation.
