Chapter 652: Let’s Hear a Shout Now
Daddy! Come Home for Dinner!
âYoung Master Lopez, if I were to say that I saw nothing tonight, I would definitely be lying to you, and you wouldnât believe me. But I want you to know, I donât see your behavior as shameful. After all, that was Adrian Zhekova, the successor to the Zhekova family, one of the Big Eight families.â Wendy Clarke took a deep breath, carefully crafting her words.
âWho wouldnât tread carefully around him when heâs angry? Thereâs nothing laughable about lowering oneâs pride for the greater good, for the family, when facing Adrian Zhekova. Itâs just that Adrian didnât consider me worth noticing.â
âIâm such an insignificant person in front of Adrian, I barely exist. Otherwise, I might be more afraid and kneel before him.â
âYoung Master Lopez, I sincerely believe, you havenât disgraced yourself,â Wendy finally said.
Edward Lopez stared at her, uncertain whether to believe or not.
After a while, he sneered, turned on his heel, and left, leaving Wendy alone.
Only when Edward had moved some distance away did Wendy start to breathe normally.
The cold wind on this winter night seemed to make her forehead even cooler than usual. Wendy touched her forehead and realized that she had broken out in a cold sweat.
Adrian Zhekova had had a bit to drink tonight. He wasnât drunk, but Cleave Roland drove the car.
Adrian had been holding Cindy Clarkeâs hand before getting into the car. They were briefly separated as they got in the car, but as soon as they were in, he immediately grabbed Cindyâs hand again.
âEverything I just told Wendy was a lie. I was just trying to scare her, so she wonât persuade your parents to make things difficult for you,â Adrian hurriedly explained to Cindy as soon as he got into the car.
Cindy naturally knew that Adrian was not going to despise her, as he claimed. âBesides, didnât you pinch me just now? I got your hint,â she said.
Unfortunately, with Cleave Roland in the front seat, many things were difficult to say. Adrian found it better to drive himself.
Cindy leaned into Adrianâs neck and took a few sniffs, then lightly sniffed at the corner of his mouth.
âWhat are you doing?â Adrian looked down and took a few sniffs of his own shoulders. âDo I smell?â
âNo,â Cindy shook her head. âI was just checking to see if there was any alcohol smell. Did you drink a lot tonight?â
Had it not been for the drinking, Adrian would never have let Cleave Roland drive.
âI didnât dare to drink much, but even if I did drink a little, I wouldnât dare to drive,â Adrian said with a smile.
Cindy nodded, âThatâs true.â
But it was somewhat awkward to have a conversation with Cleave Roland there.
They whispered some sweet nothings to each other and found it quite entertaining.
Back at home, Morgan Zhekova had already been put to sleep by Aunt Jenkins.
Seeing the couple return, Aunt Jenkins left.
Adrian thought it was great that Morgan was sleeping so soundly, and he pulled Cindy directly into the bedroom.
Cindy had intended to see Morgan, even if he was already asleep, she wanted to give him a gentle kiss.
Little did she know Adrian would pull her into the bedroom without saying a word.
Once the door was closed, Adrian excitedly said to Cindy: âI heard you call me âhusbandâ tonight.â
Cindy: ââ¦â
He was still so excited about something that happened quite some time ago.
Cindy couldnât help but reflect, did she seldom call him that way? So when Adrian heard it once, he got so excited.
As Cindy was thinking about this, Adrian leaned in to kiss her.
Holding her face in his hands, he asked, âWhat are you distracted by?â
âNothing,â Cindy quickly shook her head.
âYou deny it, but your eyes were just wandering. What were you thinking about?â Adrian asked.
Barely missing a beat, Cindy replied, âI was thinking about you.â
Adrian: ââ¦â
This girl, she seemed to have become more cheeky, speaking such sweet words effortlessly.
Seeing Adrianâs disbelief, Cindy quickly explained, âItâs true, I was self-reflecting.â
This further confused Adrian. âWhat were you reflecting on?â
âI was reflecting on whether Iâm usually not good enough to you, judging by how happy you were when I called you âhusband'â, Cindy murmured.
She thought hard, she hadnât done anything wrong to Adrian, had she?
Adrian then picked her up; âIt was just because you rarely call me that way, the rarity makes it more precious.â
Cindy thought for a moment, her eyes shifting, before she asked, âDo you prefer me calling you Adrian or âhusbandâ?â
After a good deal of thought, Adrian said, âBoth. Each name has its own charm. When you call me âhusbandâ, your voice gets soft and sweet, which I find especially endearing.
Did she really sound like that when she called him âhusbandâ? Cindy never noticed.
âWhen you call me Adrian, it makes our relationship sound especially intimate, like a husband and wife, like partners. So, I like both,â he said.
With that, Cindy did not know which one to choose.
Adrian then suggested, âCall me by both often. I like both. Call me âhusbandâ when you want to act spoiled.â
Only then did Cindy realize that she had unwittingly enjoyed playing the cute and spoiled with Adrian.
As she was lost in thought, Adrian suddenly leaned in and whispered in her ear, âEven in day time, when itâs just the two of us, you can call me âhusbandâ. I like that the most.â
Cindyâs face turned beet red, lightly pounded his chest.
What did he mean by day and night? As if they were doing something during the day.
Then she remembered, they really had had some moments during the day.
Before she knew, Adrian was already lifting her off the floor
The next second, Cindy found herself being pressed down on the bed by Adrian
Cindy let out a small shout of surprise. Fortunately, Adrianâs place was big and filled with rooms, so she didnât have to worry about waking the little one up.
Holding Cindyâs wrists, Adrian chuckled, âI love hearing you call me âhusbandâ, especially when youâre in my arms, losing all rational thought while calling out my name tremulously.â
Cindy knew exactly what Adrian was referring to, and her face turned even redder.
Adrian then urged in a low voice, âCall me now, let me hear.â
With her face flushed, Cindy clenched her lips tightly, unable to utter a word.
Adrian put on a disappointed face, âYou were just asking me about my preference, and also felt you havenât been treating me well. Why are you backing out now?â
