Chapter 16
It’s Too Late To Get A Divorce
Chapter 16
âAre you okay?â Kim hurried over, gently patting her back.
Catching her breath after coughing, Alita recognized the man by her side. She quickly stepped back, keeping her distance. âWerenât you heading downstairs with, Annabel? Why are you back up?â
âI left my phone in the office and came back to grab it,â Kim replied calmly, even if it was a lie.
Alita chuckled inwardly. âWhat a lame excuse.â
âOh, see. Well, hurry up and go ahead. Annabel hates waiting for people,â she said, not interested in exposing
him.
âI heard today is your first day at Lewis Group, and Jaydon assigned you such a special task?â Kim glanced at the water bucket and mop, then at Alitaâs work uniform.
Involuntarily, he moved a bit closer, and Alita quickly stepped back. âWorking means obeying your bossâs orders. Itâs a basic rule, no problem here.â
âSounds like youâre willingly accepting it.â Kimâs words carried a hint of sarcasm, and his gaze became more complicated.
âYes.â Alita nodded.
The long corridor was empty. Kim, dressed sharply in a suit, lowered his head and chuckled. His eyes glittered with a cold light. âYeah, sometimes, you have to endure. Money, status, powerânone come easy. You just have to humble yourself and endure being bullied. After all, compared to those, what does dignity or love really matter?â
âDoes he see me that badly now? I thought Iâd be a nice memory for him, just like heâis for me,â Alita thought.
âYeah, youâre right.â She held her breath, flashing a bright smile, but her heart sank,
Kim suddenly approached her, his eyes fixed on hers. âAlita, from now
on, I will watch you forever until death.â
âKim, let go of me!â Alita tried to push him away, but he gripped her wrist.
Kim smiled. Someday, youâll be mine.â Backing away from her, he returned to his usual composure, gracefully adjusting his sleeles. âApologies for the disturbance. See you next time.â He left with a smile as if nothing had
happened.
Alita stood there, stunned. âThis isnât the guy I knew, heâs become so scary, just like Jaydon,â she thought and

took a few steps back, falling to the ground, unable to stand.
In the corridor, rapid and heavy footsteps echoed, filled with rage.
Alita stood up, watching as Jaydon approached, his eyes blazing with fury. Without hesitation, he slapped her hard. âAlita, how dare you!â
