Chapter 76
It’s Too Late To Get A Divorce
Chapter 76
âDonât be so agitated.â Kim forcefully pulled his hand away, finding Jaydonâs anger somewhat amusing.
Jaydon angrily threw a punch, but Kim gracefully dodged it. âMr Lewis, your farewell methods are quite unkind, arenât they?â

âCut the crap. Do you know where Alita is? Are you planning to meet her? You came to the Lewis family for this purpose, right? Now that your objective is achieved, and you want to leave so easily? Itâs not going to be that simple.â Jaydon was furious at the thought of them being together.
âJaydon, no matter how angry you are now, itâs useless because Alita is no longer your wife. From now on, you have no right to interfere in her life. Even if Iâm meeting her, what can you do? Kim smiled smugly. This day had been a long time coming.
For 14 years, whenever he saw reports about himself in newspapers or on the news, he wished he could tear them apart.
Annabel, though not very smart, understood their conversation. She rushed over and grabbed Kimâs arm, saying, âIs it because of Alita that youâre leaving? What does she have thatâs better? What makes her compare to me? Why would you choose her over me?â
Kim looked at Annabel with solemn eyes and a faint smile. âPerhaps you are better in many ways, but the person I love is her, and thatâs enough for me.â
âYou love her?â Annabel couldnât believe what she heard. âHow long have you known each other? Saying love is absurd.â
âWeâve known each other for 15 years!â Kim said with the lightest tone, but it carried an emotional weight.
âWhat⦠what?â Annabel was dumbfounded and speechless.
Kim had no mood to deal with the siblings. He walked straight out.
Jaydon, with a displeased expression, forcefully grabbed him again. âSpeak, where is she?â
Kim retorted, âNo comment!â
âHumph.â Jaydon showed a ruthless smirk. âIf you donât speak, donât even think about leaving the Lewis
familyâs residence.â
Kim lowered his head, chuckled coldly, and slowly raised his face. He sighed sympathetically. âOh, Jaydon, even if you tie me up, trap me, what difference would it make? The relationship between you and Alita has ended. Even if you are unwilling, itâs useless.â
âWho told you our relationship has ended? We havenât signed the divorce agreement yet. She is still my wife.â Jaydon refused to acknowledge the notion of it ending. He didnât want to admit it, nor did he want to face the fact of losing Alita.
Kim said, âThe way you are now is pitiful.â
âAre you going to tell me or not?â Jaydon roared.
Kim had no time to deal with Jaydonâs temper. He sighed. âHonestly, I donât know where she is, but Iâll find her.â
Jaydon squinted his sharp eyes. âYou really donât know? Stop playing games. Take out your phone.â He was convinced that they must have communicated using their phones.
âDonât believe me? Fine, Iâll show youâ Kim took out his phone from his pocket, unlocked it, and handed it over to Jaydon.

Chapter 76
Seeing Kim being so candid Jaydon wondered if they truly hadnât contacted each other. He took the phone and checked the call records and messages but found no trace of Alitaâs number.
âDo you believe me now?â Kim snatched his phone from Jaydonâs hands and put it back in his pocket.
How is this possible? How could it be?â Jaydon released Kim, muttering to himself. Kim had been the man in Alitaâs heart for a long time. It was only logical for him to be the first one she called. How could they not have contacted each other?
Kim straightened his clothes, walked steadily, and left the room.
Upstairs, he ran into Samuel, who had just returned from outside
âKim, whatâs this about?â Samuel looked at the luggage in Kimâs hands. He could already guess, but he maintained a puzzled expression.
âIâve terminated the engagement with Annabel. Iâll hold a press conference tomorrow to announce this. Iâm leaving,â Kim replied indifferently. Kim felt that Samuel was not an ordinary person as he seemed too emotionless.
Samuel showed an understanding expression. âOh, I see. Annabel must be very upset. I should have scolded you a bit. But since youâve made your decision, saying more wonât help. Goodbye!â
âGoodbye,â Kim replied with a faint smile and brushed past Samuel.
âKim, donât go. Just as Kim left, Annabelâs cries were heard. She couldnât bear to see Kim go and rushed down the stairs. Fearing she might do something foolish, Jaydon followed her downstairs.
Samuel happened to be at the doorway. Despite feeling annoyed, he blocked her way. âAnnabel, stop crying. Heâs already gone.â
âSamuel, Kim doesnât want me anymore. He⦠heâs going to find Alita. How could he treat me like this? How could he?â Annabel cried heartbreakingly.
On the staircase, Scott, Kyla, and others were coming down. They had been awakened by the commotion early in the morning.
âStop crying, Annabel. Youâre so beautiful, and youâll meet an even better man in the future. We donât need heartless jerks like him. And you look ugly when you cry, Samuel comforted her gently.
Jaydon looked at Samuel, thinking that Samuel and Alita seemed to have the closest relationship among the Lewis family members. Unable to hold back, he asked, âSamuel, has Alita contacted you?â
âWhen she left, I made a farewell call to her, but we havenât been in touch since then, Samuel replied naturally, leaving no room for suspicion.
âOh, I see.â Jaydon sighed and walked back into the house, shoulders slumped.
Samuelâs eyes flickered with a glint of insight as he supported Annabel into the house.
On that day, Alita traveled out of the small town, took buses multiple times, and arrived at a remote village. There, she rented a room where she could push open the window and see a vast orchard. The fragrance of the fruit wafted through the air, creating a refreshing and pleasant atmosphere.
She planned to stay here for a while, sorting out her emotions and contemplating what she would do in the future. Once the divorce agreement was signed, she could start anew.
For the first time in 14 years, Alita experienced a free life without any constraints.

Chapter 76
Recalling the early morning phone call, she still felt lingering fear. Therefore, she hesitated to turn on her phone. Jaydon was undoubtedly unwilling to let her enjoy such freedom and would likely cause trouble for her.
After staying in the countryside for two more days, Alita finally decided to turn on her phone, anticipating a call from Otis,
Upon activation, she found several missed calls from Jaydon. Fortunately, she was quick-witted, knowing his personality wouldnât allow him to let her go. She immediately went into hiding. If he were to find her, it would undoubtedly lead to another chaotic entanglement.
She hoped that with time, Jaydon would forget his anger towards her, and she, in turn, would forget everything about him.
Outside the window, rain began to fall, gently tapping on the glass and echoing the melancholy in her heart.
Meanwhile, at Everlink Law Firm,
In Otisâs office, Jaydon had been arriving punctually every day for the past two days.
âMr. Lewis, itâs not very productive for you to stay here. I tried calling her yesterday and the day before, but her phone is always off. Sending the divorce agreement is now impossible. Olis said, looking at Jaydon in distress, Jaydonâs presence had disrupted the normal functioning of the office for several days.
âDid you try today? Maybe she turned on her phone.â Jaydon placed all his hopes on this, as this was the only place Alita would likely contact. Moreover, he needed her address to send the divorce agreement.
âI havenât tried today. Iâll give it a shot. Otis didnât dare to offend this powerful figure and reluctantly took out his phone, dialing Alitaâs number. To his surprise, the call went through this time.
Seeing Otisâs astonished expression, Jaydon ecstatically asked. âIs it connected?â
âYes. Otis nodded, and someone had already answered the call.
Alita had just returned from picking fresh cherries outside. Hearing the phone ringing by her pillow, she guessed it was probably a call from Otis.
âHello, is this Mr. Praut? This is Alita. Has the divorce agreement been drafted?â Alita inquired.
Sweating profusely and glancing at Jaydon, Otis replied, âYes, itâs ready. Just give me your address, and Iâll send it to you.â
âAlright, Iâll give you the address. Write it down, Alita responded
Otis hurriedly said, âWait a minute, Iâm looking for paper.â
âNo problem, take your time finding it,â Alita said politely, using the back of her hand to wipe off the sweat from her forehead.
Jaydon was filled with excitement. He thought, âStubborn girl, letâs see where you can run
Otis took a pen and searched the table for a piece of paper but couldnât find one immediately. In a hurry, Jaydon extended his hand and, through eye contact and subtle lip movements, indicated for Otis to write on his hand.
Clearing his throat, Otis took the pen and tremblingly placed it in Jaydonâs hand. âMrs. Lewis, I found some paper. Please go
ahead.â
âAlright.â Alita provided the address of the village. She added, âThis place is quite remote, so please have the delivery person call me when they arrive. Also, Iâm no longer Mrs. Lewis.â

âYes, yes, my apologies. You see, I get nervous and end up making mistakes, Otis said, glancing at Jaydon with considerable
pressure.
âMr. Pratt, you sure love to joke. By the way, if Jaydon asks about my whereabouts, please donât tell him. I donât want to see him again,â Alita added. She had thought about it but didnât expect Jaydon to be one step ahead.
Hearing her words, Jaydonâs heart sank, and his handsome face turned sour.
Otis felt like crying but was compelled by Jaydonâs influence. He could only say, âAlright, donât worry. I wonât tell him. Goodbye!â
After hanging up the phone, Jaydonâs expression turned grim. Ons felt uneasy and said, âMr. Lewis, you know the address now. Go find her quickly. Iâve become a person who breaks promises because of you.â
âIt doesnât matter. When the time comes, blame any faults on me. Say I threatened you with a knife, Jaydon said. expressionlessly and immediately walked out.
