Prescott
The room was thick with tension and fear. My father, Beta, Gamma, and Serena were sitting int their chairs while Matilda and I were sitting on the couch. Dad was already having beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He shouldnât have asked him anything if he was that afraid of Owenâs prophecies. His observing eyes scanned Matilda and I was stunned to see that she could look him. in the eye.
âAlpha Queen,â he grinned from ear to ear.
Matilda nodded her head in acknowledgment, not knowing what to say. She looked at me with a baffled expression and I took her hand in mine to comfort her. âItâs okay. You donât have to say anything.
âMay I meet your little sister?â He requested politely.
âWhy do you have to meet her? She is too young,â I intervened.
âShe has already shifted into his wolf form, hasnât she? Well, werewolves become mature after shifting so stop treating her like a kid,â came a snarky reply from the bastard. I loathed him since. the day my father forced me to tag along with him to visit him.
I still remember palpably when I was twelve and Owen had told my father that I was going to become the most ruthless Alpha of my time and choose darkness over light till the ray of sunshine. entered my life and showed me the right path.
Probably his prophecy had become the truth of my life and I hated that Goddess blessed him with the power to foresee the future.
âI donât think that my mother would allow her to come here,â my mate responded calmly while 1 was in a whiteâhot rage.
âYour mother has gone to the town but you didnât join her, I see,â his voice had a hint of sarcasm which made me growl. The fucker knew everything, he was indicating for Dylan and it was getting
on my nerves.
âOf course, she wouldnât go anywhere. She will stay with me,â I snapped at him.
âCalm down, Alpha. Iâm here, see, My mate squeezed my thigh, looking at me adoringly with a smile on her face. Her soothing touch calmed me down.
âThe beast is finally tamed by the beauty,â Owen remarked and burst out in laughter, followed by
father who didnât hold himself back.
my
âSerena, please, bring Avery,â Matilda said softly and Serena left to bring her little sister.
âYou donât have to,â I whispered, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.
âItâs okay. I see no harm from him,â she replied with a smile. My gorgeous mate. My wolf was ecstatic every time I called her mine or my mate. Before it was chosen mate but now, it was fated.

mate and it surely changed everything.
I could feel the bond between us getting stronger but the sparks werenât profound. Small tingles were rising in my b*dy each time she touched me.
âYou have done a good job in taming him,â Owen appreciated and Matilda smirked at me teasingly.
âWhy have you come to live here? Iâm the Alpha of this pack and I didnât invite you here,â I said, raising my brows at him, demanding an explanation.
âYouâre just Alpha. I came to visit the Alpha Queen and Iâm sure that my Queen has no objection.â Owen looked at Matilda who flashed a smile at him.
âOf course, not. I always wanted to meet you but-â she was cut off by Owen.
âBut your mother didnât let me come to your pack,â he butted in, a habit that he was obsessed with.
He added, âI wish your mother could have chosen the same path as yours. Her bloodline was the most powerful among the others but Iâm glad to see that youâre nothing like your mother.â
The only thing that I liked about Owen was that he didnât filter his mouth. If he didnât like anyone, he would be so upfront about it rather than pretending to like them. Something that he and I agreed upon was the bad vibes from her mother.
âWhat do you mean?â Matilda asked, bemused.
âThe little Princess is here,â Owen got up from his chair and bowed to Avery. Everyoneâs jaw dropped in the room.
âAm I being delusional?â Caleb exaggerated in the link.
âNot in this case, Jericho chuckled, he left no chance for teasing him about his obsession for Serena.
âChaplain,â Avery muttered with horror before breaking into a sob.
Before Matilda could reach her sister, Owen held her and saved her from falling to the ground. He chanted something and blew the air from his mouth on her face. Avery opened her eyes, slowly getting back to her feet.
âNo, this canât be true. I canât do that,â Avery shook her head vigorously, taking a step back.
âYouâre born to be that, Princess. You canât run away from your fate, he emphasized the gravity of his last sentence, looking at me and my mate.
No one could escape their fate. We had tried multiple times to run away from our fate but in the end, it brought us back to what fate had decided for. I was intrigued to know what Averyâs fate was.
She was just sixteen and had already shifted, earlier than the ordinary wolves. Whenever I looked at her, I didnât know why but I had a feeling that she was too innocent for this world. She was too mature for her age.
âI donât want to be a Chaplain. I want to live in the pack, with my mate. Is that too much to ask for?â Avery shrieked, surprising everyone. The room carried a pinâdrop silence for a while, making

Averyâs sobbing sound and her racing heartâs beats reverberate in the room.
The weather suddenly changed, becoming more stormy while it was sunny earlier. The lights struck in the sky and the clouds thundered heavily.
âYou will live in the pack with your mate. You will live happily ever after with your mate, sweetie. You donât have to live in the woods like me. It was my choice, not the rule,â Owen said softly, patting her back.
I wondered why her parents werenât called here when their daughterâs most important things were being discussed in my office.
Matilda held Avery in her arms who had calmed down a bit and the temperature that had dropped in the room earlier turned to its normal degree. Both the sisters represented fire and ice. Matildaâs emotions would intensify the temperature whilst Averyâs emotions would diminish the temperature, something that I had observed over time.
âShe is too young to become a Chaplain,â Matilda said firmly, looking into Owenâs eyes.
âOh, dear, I havenât come to make her a Chaplain right now. Avery will have to learn about her duties and the rules of the Goddess. She is still a diamond in the rogue. Itâs not easy to get this position. She will have to prove her worth and she will be tested many times to check if she can continue being the pureâhearted Princess she was born to be,â Owen explained.
A wave of relief washed over my mateâs face, making her sigh. âWill she have to go with you to train?â She asked hesitatingly, reluctant to let her little sister go. Had I been in her place, I would have been reluctant, too.
âNo, I will come again to train her. I still have time left to live,â Owen smiled.
âWhat do you mean by that?â Dad got up from his chair.
âIâm a mortal, Alpha Mason. Everyone has to go at a time but I was lucky to be able to choose my time,â he said, shrugging.
I hated him but I felt bad for him. It didnât feel good to know that his time was up. Dad had told me so much about him. How he lost his mate in the war and after that, he decided to live in the woods with her memories. He was a kind and pure soul which was mandatory for a chaplain to have in our world but a female chaplain was something that had never occurred in history.
If Avery passed the test, she would be the first female chaplain wolf which would be an honor.
âItâs not the time to mourn my death yet,â he chuckled. âIâm still alive and have come here to help the Queen lift the Kingâs curse. Alpha Prescott, you are yet to be throned properly to receive the powers to fight in the brewing war.â
âWhat do you mean? We had the crown ceremony and they received the tattooed marks, too.â Dad frowned.
âPlease, show it to your father,â Owen smirked, looking at me.
I removed my shirt to show my tattoo but I was shocked to find the mark I received at the crown
