Chapter 15
The Alpha Abandoned Bride
Chapter 15
ISABEL
Today is my first day working for Logan and I had to meet him. I woke up uneasy. Why did he have to go through that much to get me to work for him when he could simply get any chef in the world? I have asked myself the same question a lot of times but nothing seems to make sense to me. ome.
1 sighed the minute I got out of my car and headed toward the skyscraper building that belonged to Logan.
I didnât speak to him directly but I spoke to Leah and she was the one who told me the time to go over to speak to him. I didnât want to have anything to do with him because he was a man of my past.
I hoped that things worked well because I didnât want to show any sign of hurt in me.
âGood morning,â the receptionist said to me as I stood in front of her. âHow can I help you?â
âLogan Smith.â I replied.
âDo you have an appointment?â She asked.
âYes, I do. I took out my identification card.
âChef Payne? Itâs so nice to see you in person. I ate your food some days back. My sister came back home with your food and
it was delicious,â the receptionist said with excitement laced in her tone and it made me happy.
Today started tense but hearing her compliment me made me feel at ease. âThank you. I am really glad rest you enjoyed my food.
âThe last floor is where youâd find Mr Smithâs office,â she instructed me.
âIt was nice meeting you,â she added.
âAnd you too,â I replied with a smile before walking away.
I took in a deep breath and exhaled as soon as I entered the elevator. I stared at the numbers as the elevator went heart raced faster than normal from nervousness.
This would be the first time weâd be in the same space but the first time weâd be having a long conversation.
up and my
The sound of the elevator signified that I had reached my destination. I came out of the elevator. âYou can do it, Isabel. Itâs just business and you should see him as your employer and not your ex.â I said to myself before taking my steps.
My phone began to ring in my bag so I stopped to take the phone out and see who that was calling. Just as I did, someone bumped hard into me, making my phone fall.
I leaned down to pick my phone up when I heard an irritating sound.
âWatch where it is that you are going to
I looked up to see who it was that bumped into me and still dared to raise their voice at me. I froze when I saw who it was.
âJade,â I called in surprise when I saw her.
Jade Armstrong. If there was anyone I had a bad memory with besides Logan, it was her. Jade bullied me, stomped on me. and spat on me. It was like she couldnât breathe without torturing me.

Chapter 15
Even if I did nothing wrong, sheâd find a reason to make me suffer.
âIsabel.â She called. She seemed just as surprised to see me but the surprised facial expression was replaced with a bad frown.
âWhat are you doing here?â She asked.
I didnât see a reason to reply to her but I did. âI am here for work
âWork? What do you mean by that?â She doesnât seem pleased.
Seeing her here after four years only made me angry. It reminded me of the slaps she gave me and what made it worse was the fact Logan was still with her yet he told me he wanted me to be his
His words resurfaced in my head and it only made me angry. How could he? I knew he couldnât have wanted me back. I knew there was a reason for his actions and he did prove that now.
âI am here for work as I said. I hope you donât mind, Iâll be leaving now. I said,
I attempted to walk past her but she held me back, holding my ans.
âYou cannot come to my husbandâs place of work and tell me that you came here for work. If it was someone else, Iâd believe that so what are you doing here? Donât tell me..
âI have work to do. Do not hold me again, I pulled her arms off nine before walking away, not turning to look at her.
âYou bit ch!â I felt Jadeâs hand on my hair as she pulled me back.
screamed in pain from the impact. âLet me go!â
âMrs Smith please let her go, a man approached us as he tried to get Jadeâs hand off my hair.
I managed to her a hold of her hair too and began to pull it back If she thought I was the Isabel of the past where she got to step on me and go freely then she was wrong.
âHow dare you!â She groaned as I pulled her hair harder.
âHow dare you too! I retorted.
âLet go of my hair, you st upid s lave!â She spat.
âLet go of my hair too!â I retorted.
âWhat the hell is going on here!â It was Logan and he looked shocked to see the both of us pulling each other hair.
Everything suddenly made sense as to why I had an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. If I knew Iâd end up having to do this then I would have not come.
âLet go of her hair Jade. What is wrong with you?â
âWhy should I? Sheâs also holding my hair and you should tell her to let go too. You are the cause of this disrespect,â Jade replied.
I wouldnât let go of her hair unless she let go of mine and even if she died, I planned on holding her hair for a little longer to get off some steam.
Let go of each otherâs hair!â Logan warned.
Jade let go of my hair and 1 did some seconds after she did.

Chapter 15
âI thought you ended things with her four years ago so what is she doing here? Why is she here Logan? Is she the reason?
I turned to look at Logan frantically. I song understand whatâs going on here myself and why he knew heâd have his wife over yet
he made me come at this time.
All I wanted to do was leave and never see him again.
âAnswer the da mn question!â Jadd exclaimed.
âWatch it!â Logan chided, the sound of his voice reverberating the room and sending a startling aftermath.
I have never heard him speak that way before. I might have heard people speak about this side of him in the past but I never got to see it for myself.
âWhy donât you leave Jade?â
âWhat? Are you asking me to leave?â
âJade, leave. He repeated sternly.
Jade scoffed. âI cannot believe this. You have got to be kidding. I am not going to leave here unless she leaves.â
âYou know what? This is just perfect. I will take my leave,â I cut him off.
âGood. You better leave,â Jade remarked.
I adjusted my hair and outfit before walking away.
âWait. Where are you going to?â Logan held my wrist, preventing me from taking any further steps.
âAre you seriously asking me? Your wife is over so focus on her because I have other things to do and I donât have time for this,â I replied, sounding irritated by his question when he knew exactly what he was doing.
âStay. You donât have to go. Sheâd go,â he said.
I was surprised by his statement. I just couldnât understand and that was exactly what I expected from the man who broke my heart.
I pulled my hand from his hold. âI came here for business and it had turned out this way so itâs best that I leave for you to attend to your wife,â I replied.
âExactly and thatâs what you should leave only after we are done with the business,â he stated.
âI cannot have my hair pulled out. I donât have the strength for today and besides I have other things to attend to. We will continue all of this another time,â I said.
âLet her go, Logan. Let her go this instance!â Jade screamed.
âIf you want to reach out to me next time, do that through Leah and sheâll give you my reply after she converses it is that you conversed with her with me,â I said before turning to leave.
The moment I walked away, a drop of tears slipped down my cheek. What happened today only reminded me of what happened four years ago.â
It was similar to this situation. My past repeating itself only made it hard for me to move past it. How was I supposed to let go of my past wonât leave me alone?
