Chapter 33

ISABEL

“Good thing you are here just in time. We have a meeting with Mr. Smith. Your presence is highly needed.” Leah said to me the minute I stepped into her office.

She didn’t tell me before I came. I didn’t prepare myself for seeing Logan. I hadn’t seen him after we had sec and I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know how to face him after I ran away.

“Stay calm Isabel,” I said m entally as I prepared myself.

It couldn’t be that bad. I’d just act like I didn’t recall and I had done that because I was drunk and even if I didn’t ha that way, I still didn’t owe him any explanations

We might have gotten along the other night but it doesn’t mean that we are suddenly back together.

“Let’s go. Isabel, Leah said

I followed behind her. I wasn’t nervous but when I got closer to the meeting room, I began to feel nervous. Is shouldn’t be nervous. It’s just Logan but memories of two nights ago kept resurfacing.

I shook my head. “It’s just sex and I’m sure he doesn’t read much meaning to it too.” I muttered discreetly to myself.

“Did you say something?” Leah asked and I shook my head.

I entered the meeting room and took a seat while we waited for Logan to come.

“What are we going to be talking about?” I askedl Leah because I needed to know to know what to say and when to speak.

“We are just having a meeting concerning the plans for this week. You don’t have to say much. Just listen because you are going to be the chef in charge and I don’t want any issues at all.” Leah explained.

Shortly Logan walked in. The moment he walked him, his presence exuded a powerful aura, making my mouth go dry the minute I set I set my eyes on him.

He looked hot. He had always looked hot but today he was dressed differently. He wasn’t in a suit but rather in a two-piece outfit that fitted him perfectly. The first three buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned revealing his chest.

I m entally gasped from the hotness and the need to touch them. Memories of that night resurfaced again. I shook my head, me ntally scolding myself to keep calm and control myself.

“Welcome, Mr. Smith. It’s nice having you here,” Leah said, getting up from her seat and I followed suit.

“Thanks for having me and I’m looking forward to this meeting. Logan replied before taking a seat. We both proceeded to sit afterward.

I could feel Logan’s hot gaze on me. He was staring at me and it was obvious. Can he try to look elsewhere so I don’t pass

out?

I couldn’t look in his direction because I knew that if I did, our eyes would meet, and that was exactly what he wanted considering he was staring at me.

Logan left his seat and took the seat beside me.

“I think I will be fine sitting here,” Logan said.

I suddenly felt tense. I was a bit nervous before but now I was tense from his presence. He knew what he was doing and he was enjoying torturing me.

“I think I forgot something in my office. I will go and get it.” Leab said. “If you don’t mind excusing me.”

I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat as she walked away. She shouldn’t have left and now I’m stuck with Logan whether I liked it or not.

I tried not to look in his direction because, from my peripheral view, I could tell that he was staring at me.

“Hi” He finally said, his hot breath fawning the skin of my neck from his proximity.

“Hi,” I replied, looking everywhere else but him.

“How have you been?” He leaned closer to whisper in my ears.

He could speak out loud but he refused to and decided to do this. He wanted a reaction from me and I could tell that.

I cleared my throat before adjusting, giving myself a breathing space. “I’ve been good as you can see

I finally looked at him now, better composed than I was before, wanting to show him that his presence doesn’t bother me when deep down it does..

“I can see that. Didn’t hear from you.” He said.

I scoffed. “Was I supposed to?”

“Not at all.” He punched the bridge of his nose,

“I mean yes. I expected to hear from you but 1-should be the one that had made the move. I didn’t do that and I’m sorry. I wanted to text you but wasn’t sure if I should and also I was hurt you left before I woke up.” From his tone, I could tell that he was hurt but I wasn’t sure if I should be concerned with that or not.

“How have you been?” He asked.

“I’ve been good. Thank you.”

“You know you shouldn’t sound so cold. It doesn’t look good on you. I prefer that sweet voice of yours especially when it comes like you are singling while under me.” He said in a deep sultry voice

I shivered at the words he said. Logan knew me better than anyone. It might have been years but his words still have an effect on me, I could tell because I was affected.

“Don’t sound so cold to me. It hurts and I thought we got past that already?”

He leaned closer. I stiffened from his closeness. “You smell so nice.” He uttered, leaning even close to my ear.

*I could stay like this for life and be satisfied.” His hot breath fawned over my neck, sending goosebumps on my skin.

I tried not to react but it was hard. It only made it hard for me to breathe.

“I’m so sorry for making you wait.” Leah walked in that moment, saving me.

I was glad she did. She came at the right time because if she had come any minute late, it would have been a disaster.

Having sex with Logan only made the situation worsen. It only made it hard for me to be beside him and made me want hirn again. For years I haven’t had sex or engaged in anything sexual but suddenly it’s like I’ve lost that control and wanted him again.

“It’s no problem,” Logan said, adjusting back to his seat.

I heaved a sigh of relief but at the same time missed his presence too.

The meeting began and all I did was stare in the opposite direction to avoid Logan’s gaze. I tried my best not to stare at him and also listened to what Leah was saying but I’d be lying if I said I listened.

My mind reached faster than normal and I had other thoughts in my head too. I just wanted to leave this room and kiss him. It was driving me insane. I suddenly had a sexual urge inside of me.

“What do you think Isabel?”

I slapped back to reality when I heard Leah call my name. I was completely lost in my thoughts that I didn’t listen to her while she was speaking and now I had nothing to say.

“It’s good,” I replied, not sure if what I said made sense but I was hoping she’d say it does.

“Alright then. And you Mr smith?”

1 heaved a sigh of relief when I heard her ask Logan.

“It’s good too. We can get started on it and it would be nice if Isabel could come over tomorrow or maybe she can just go with me today to take a look at the place. What do you think?”

I was lost. What was he talking about? I didn’t listen when Leah was speaking and now I had no idea why I had to go with him but I could not ask because that would only make it known that I wasn’t listening and I had just said yes for no reason

“I think it would be best for Isabel to go with you today. That way we’d be able to start early.” Leah replied.

Today? Where am I going with him and what am I going to do? me ntally screamed while keeping a calm composure

“I think that makes sense too. It’s settled then. Logan replied.

Just how was he able to keep staring at me and also listen to her too?

“It’s settled. Thanks once again, Mr. Smith. I appreciate you taking your time to come for this.” Leah said once again.

We both got on our feet. They shook hands.

“Miss Payne, shall we?” Logan remarked, gesturing towards the door.

“Alright,” I said.

“But I have to speak to Leah for a minute. I will join you shortly, I said before walking away, pulling Leah along with me.

“What was that for?” Leah asked as soon as we were out of his presence.

“Why did you say today? Why not tomorrow?” I asked.

“Oh please. You said it was good after listening to me so why won’t today be a good day? Tomorrow is a waste of time and besides, there’s a lot of time today. You don’t have anything to do now do you?”

I ran my finger through my hair.

“I will advise that you go now. You don’t want to keep

“I didn’t think you’d come this fast. You can’t wait to be beside me. Don’t worry the fully is mutual.” He remarked.

“Don’t flatter yourself. I said.

We both walked into the elevator. “Nice dress.”

I blushed at his compliment but did a good job of hiding it.

“It accentuates your curves perfectly and fits your a ss.” He smacked his lips.

“Are you being a per vert right now?” I remarked, acting like I wasn’t enjoying it.

I said nothing to him because I knew it would only make him keep talking and I didn’t want to make things harder for myself.

I also had to ask him where we were going to and what we were going to do but I wasn’t sure if I shouldn’t ask him because that way I’d be letting him know that I wasn’t paying attention and he’d ask to know what I had in my mind that I didn’t focus.

I couldn’t let him know that. He opened the door of his car for me and I entered. He walked over to the other side and got in

later.

“So you have two kids. I know it’s not my place but in two years you had two kids. They are beautiful and handsome by the way. He complimented.

I didn’t know why he suddenly brought that up.

“Thank you.” I replied.

“How old are they?” He asked making me curious to know what be had in mind for him to suddenly want to know ab kids or rather our kids

“They are twins,” I said, keeping my response firm and short

“Wow! And their names?” He asked.

I couldn’t help but suddenly begin to wonder if he had something that I didn’t know about. Why was he curious about my

kids?

“Emma and Ethan.”

“Lovely names. So…”

“Where exactly are we going and what exactly are we going to do?” I asked, changing the topic.

I’d rather he know that I didn’t listen at the meeting than have conversations that have to do with my kids.

“Are you seriously asking?” He questioned.

“Yes. I mean I’m going to a place I don’t know and with you so I should at least know where and why.” I replied.

“Oh, my goodness. You said fine earlier. How can you not know where it is that we are going to besides Leah asked.”

“You weren’t paying attention were you?” He stated the obvious.

“I was listening but something happened and I suddenly didn’t understand.” I lied.

“That’s a lie. You don’t know how to lie even after all these years Logan let out a small laugh.

“Well, I’m not lying.” I stood firm on my words.

“Okay then. If you aren’t lying then you should know where it is that we are going to and what it is that you have to do or do I have to tell you that since you listened?”

I could tell that he was smirking from my peripheral view. He knew I was lying but he didn’t have to rub it on my face.

“Okay. Let’s say that I kind of lost concentration. Will you tell me where we are going and what it is that we are going to do?” I blinked my eyes like a puppy dog, hoping for me to consider that.

“That’s not going to work.” He laughed.

“Just confess that you weren’t paying attention and then I’d tell you.” He replied.

“You don’t have to be hard you know? And I already mentioned the reason. What else do you want?”

*I will make you a deal then.” He said.

“A deal! What do you mean by a deal?”

It’s simple. I will give you the answer that you want if you agree for us to have a deal.”

“Why do I feel like you have something evil going on in your mind? What deal are you talking about?”

“Will you accept it or not? The ball is in your court. If you want me to tell you then you have to agree to have a deal with me.” He smiled at me and I glared at him.
