âOh.â She sounded disappointed. âWhy isnât his amnesia gone?* âYour grandpa told you Wade and
Miranda were your real parents on his deathbed. Then you told me.â
âI see,â he uttered.
âWhat about Lewis? I havenât seen him in forever. Whereâs he been?â she asked curiously.
âMy grandma sent him to Italy.â Valerie was afraid Lewis would make trouble again, so she sent him far
away.
âOh, okay.â She understood.
âDonât you still have work to do? Go. Weâll talk another time about changing my daughterâs Last name.â
Still leaning against the car, Carlos bent one knee and tucked his hands into his pockets. He Looked
interested.
âOh? What do you intend to do about it?â
Suddenly, Debbie walked up to him, pressed herself against him, and looked him in the eye.
âCarlos, I told you I could make you fall in love with me again, and I did. I canât forgive you for how you
treated me after you lost your memory. Weâll settle that account when youâre better.â
The Look in his eyes dimmed.
âSo, you arenât going to divorce Ivan?â
Debbie was Left speechless. âWhy did he bring up Ivan? What does he have to do with anything?â
Carlos lifted her chin and looked at her intensely.
âI hate how I treated you, though my memoryâs still a mess. If I apologize, would you forgive me?
Would you marry me again?â
âHuh! You wish! Stop it.â Debbie pried his hands off before she was bewitched by his beautiful eyes.
Carlos was surprised by her reaction.
âJust marry your fiancee. I have Ivan. You and I can both take care of
Piggy. Sounds like a plan,â she said casually.
âBut Ivan doesnât love you.â
âYou donât love me either. So give me one good reason why I should divorce him.â
