Chapter 1311
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
âThe police are still working on it. They found her diary, but it didnât help much.â
Miranda didnât feel bad over Meganâs death.
âIt broke your grandmaâs heart when she died. She seemed to age overnight. Now she wonât leave the
Buddhist shrine.â
âIâll visit her when I have time in the next few days,â Carlos announced. It had been too long since he
set foot in New York. It was time for him to visit his grandmaâ¦and Tabitha.
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The office was so quiet. Finally,
Mirandaâs phone buzzed. She read the message and then asked, âYou must have found out a lot about
James. What are you going to do with him?â
âThatâs up to Debbie,â said Carlos. However she wanted to handle
James, he would support her
Miranda smiled. She stood up, walked over to Carlos and patted him on the shoulder. A warm gesture
meant to comfort.

âCarlos, I thinkâ¦â
âYes?â
âOne day when you have your memory back,â she continued, her smile growing bigger, âDebbieâs going
to get back at you. Boy, youâll be in trouble then.â
Carlos didnât know what to say. He had anticipated that, planned for it, counted on it.
After leaving Carlosâ office, Miranda called Debbie.
Debbie was doing a clothing commercial. When Miranda told her she was back in the city and was
close by, she asked for a break and went to see Miranda in her working clothes.
At a tea house
Debbie arrived wearing a white sundress, setting off her killer figure.
Men turned their heads to watch the vision of beauty entering the quiet shop. Women turned green with
envy, in some cases scolding their husbands and boyfriends.
âWere you at work?â Miranda asked when she noticed Debbieâs makeup.
âYeah. Why are you back so suddenly? Is this a business trip?â Debbie had rushed over as fast as she
could. Thirsty, she gulped down a cup of tea without waiting for Mirandaâs answer.
Watching this, Miranda frowned and said in a reproachful tone, âYouâre in public now for Godâs sake.â
Debbie giggled and sat up straight.
âToo thirsty
Miranda just shook her head and decided to drop it. Anyway, that wasnât why she was here.
âWhy didnât you tell me you had a daughter?â she asked bluntly. They kept in touch, but mostly by
phone. They didnât usually have involved conversations. If Debbie kept something from her, sheâd have
to find out second-hand.
