Chapter 1340
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
At the Hilton Groupâ¦
James was escorted into the CEOâs office by Frankie. When his eyes landed on Carlos, the old sly fox
tried his level best to pull a pathetic face.
âHello Carlos, busy?â
A dash of resentment flashed in Carlosâ eyes when he heard it. But it was gone quickly when he raised
his head. His face betraying no emotion, he put down his pen and said, âNo.â
The air between them was tense. After exchanging simple pleasantries,
James urgently cut to the chase.
âPeople tell me you have an illegitimate daughter, out of wedlock, right?â
âSheâs not illegitimate.â Carlos shot to his feet from his chair. With his eyes on James, he said firmly,
âSheâs mine and Debbieâs kid. She also wasnât aborted, like you said.â
Jamesâ blood froze in his veins; his heart started beating a mile a minute. The worst had finally
happened. âI know it. That child is trouble. I shouldâve killed her baby when I had the chance!â he
thought remorsefully. He forced out a smile.
âOh, really? I thought she got rid of it. She didnât? Well, congrats, youâre a dad too. When can I meet
my granddaughter?â
âNo need. Just sign the divorce papers. Iâm flying out to New York to see Mom the day after tomorrow,â
Carlos said coldly, shooting down
Jamesâ idea of meeting Piggy
âFeel free to visit your mom, but I wonât sign my name. I wonât divorce her. Carlos, Iâve been working
from home. I didnât do anything wrong.
Donât split us up, okay?â James begged as he wiped his face in anguish

After a moment of silence, Carlos opened his mouth again.
âIâll drop by
Stephanieâs parents, too. They deserve that much.â
âWhy?â James was confused.
The older man didnât seem like a good actor. Seeing his poor performance, Carlos tried his best to not
Laugh out.
âBecause I called off our engagement.â
âWhat?! Why? Arenât you getting along? Youâre going to remarry Debbie, arenât you? I told you not to.
Why donât you listen to your old man?â
James asked in an agitated voice as he sprung up from the sofa.
Comparing to the elderly manâs flustered face, Carlos was unflappable.
He lit a cigarette and took a drag before answering, âStephanie and I didnât hit it off. If you force us to
marry, Iâm afraid we couldnât even be friends.â
