Chapter 1639
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
His reaction made Blair a little sad. She kept her voice as low as possible as she replied to Niles, âWe
were just neighbors. âWereâ being the operative word.â
What Blair didnât know was that Cecelia had been watching them the whole time. The happy mother
pinched her husband, tilting her head in their direction.
Baldwin followed her gaze and saw Blair and Niles whispering to each other, while Wesley gulped
down his food. However, he could see how
Niles reacted around Blair. His younger son was friendly and animated, but he saw no deep abiding
love in the young manâs eyes.
It could be because he considered Blair a friend, or maybe because he had an axe to grind. Either way,
Baldwin was sure that Niles wasnât in love with Blair.
However on the other hand, Wesley was acting strange. He seemed to deliberately avoid eye contact
with Blair. But when he occasionally took a quick glance at her, the look in his eyes was complicated.
Baldwin thought that Wesley might have a thing for Blair.
Niles wasnât buying it, either. Blair picked up her glass, starting in on the lemonade. He suddenly drew
closer to her and whispered again,
âYou canât fool me, I know what I saw. Last time..
âUghâ¦â Shocked by what Niles had told her, Blair awkwardly choked on the Lemonade and coughed a
few times.
Luckily, she didnât spit out the drink in her mouth. Otherwise, she would be even more embarrassed.
Her coughing fit drew everyoneâs eyes toward her.
Adalson looked at her and asked, âBlair, whatâs wrong?â
With everyoneâs eyes on her, Blair felt nervous and embarrassed. She wished she could hide under the
table now. She waved a hand at her uncle as she patted her chest with her other hand. When she was
able to breathe more easily, she apologized.

âIâm okay. Sorry⦠Ughâ¦â She was cut off by another coughing fit.
Niles pulled out a few tissues and handed them to Blair. She took them and covered her mouth to stifle
the coughs.
âHave some water,â a voice said. She recognized the voice. She took the glass of water handed to her
by the man on her right, and drank a mouthful.
Niles had told her a big secret about Wesley. She guessed Wesley heard nothing. If he had, he
wouldnât have been so calm, handing her a glass of water.
After taking a few sips, Blair stopped coughing. Seeing this, Niles patted her back and said, âHey, why
are you so shocked? I was telling the truth.â Cecelia saw how considerate Niles was in taking care of
Blair. She believed even more that her younger son was in love now.
âShe might be engaged, but sheâs not married yet. Anything is possible!â the mother thought happily.
Niles kept talking, and Blair couldnât help but drink two more mouthfuls of water to control her emotions.
She put the glass on the table and shot to her feet.
âIf youâll pardon me, Iâll make my way to the little girlâs room.â
Keith nodded, âWas it something Niles said? I should show that young man some mannersâ¦â
