Chapter 1816
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
What kind of a question was that? Blair didnât realize Wesleyâs emotional change. But it was
reasonable that he would be worried about her since it was already quite late. So she assured him,
âYes. He helped me a lot in England. Weâre good friends. Wesley, please donât worry. Iâll try to be back
inside the apartment before midnight.â
âIt wonât take too long to talk about job, â she thought.
Pressing his lips into a thin line, Wesley remained silent and turned around to walk on.
Blair noticed how Wesley walked on without saying a word. She sensed a brewing headache and
wondered, âIs he seriously giving me the silent treatment?â
They reached a crossroad; if they went right, they would reach the parking lot. The other led to the front
gate. Wesley stopped in his tracks, hesitating for a few seconds. He gestured to the path that would
bring them to the entrance.
âIâll walk you to the gate,â he said.
âSure,â Blair agreed as she let out a sigh of relief. He finally said something.
On their way to the front gate, Blair phoned Adalson.
âUncle Adalson, I have something to do and Iâm leaving now. Yes, heâs with me now. Okay.
Bye.â

Wesley escorted Blair on the way out. With him by her side, she got through the gateâs heavy security
without any difficulty. As soon as they got out of the base, a gust of cold wind hit her face.
It was dark outside, with only a few street lamps on. Blair jumped a few times to keep herself warm.
She turned to Wesley and told him, âYou can go back to your office. Iâll just wait for Orion here. I wonât
go anywhere.â
He put a cigarette between his lips and took out the lighter from his pocket.
âKeep your distance from me, please.â
Blairâs lips twitched. Nonetheless, she took a few steps back and watched him light his cigarette.
âYou⦠Are you a heavy smoker?â Sheâd seen him smoke more than a few times before.
He blew out a cloud of smoke opposite Blairâs direction. He made sure his secondhand smoke would
not reach the girl.
âNot really.â He only smoked heavily whenever he was annoyed.
âNot really?â Blair was not buying it. She tried her best not to nag but she still ended up reminding him,
âDonât smoke too much. Itâs bad for your health.â
Wesley turned to look at her. He was puzzled by the girlâs sudden concern for him. âIs she worried
about me?
The way Wesley was looking at her made Blair uneasy. She was trying to make out what was going on
behind his eyes. A few seconds passed and Blair finally started speaking again.
âWell, it was not my intention to meddle with your business,â she said quietly.
âI purely meant what I said. Smoking kills, you know?â
Wesley pulled his gaze away from Blair and huffed another puff.
Blair sighed. She gave up trying to read Wesleyâs thoughts. Wesley seemed off to her. She just couldnât
quite put her finger on it.
