Chapter 213
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Meanwhile, Emmett, who was on a construction site, supervising the crew, sneezed suddenly. âDamn!
Who is talking about me behind my back?
Or is someone missing me?â he wondered. Actually, he had been thinking, âCarlos, I miss you. I want to
talk to you. Please take me back!â
Bowing his head, he pondered over it for a while. Then he took out his phone and called Tristan.
âTristan, how are things with Carlos and
Debbie? Are they getting along?â
When Tristan got Emmettâs call, he had just returned to the office
Emmettâs question caused him to think about the lipsticks Carlos had bought Debbie. In his opinion, a
gift meant their relationship was okay. So he replied, âTheyâre fine.â
âOK. Thanks,â Emmett said. After ending the call with Tristan, he called Debbie.
Debbie didnât realize she hadnât talked to Emmett in a long time until she got his call.
âHi, Emmett,â she said. She was about to go to Carlosâ company to return the Lipsticks when her phone
rang.
âBooâ¦hoo⦠How⦠how are you, Debbie?â
Emmett cried over the phone, which made Debbie shiver. She thought something awful must have
happened.
âWhatâs the matter?â she asked.
The next moment, Emmett asked cautiously, âDebbie, is Carlos with you?â
âNo. Why?â she wondered.
Hearing that Carlos wasnât around, Emmett stopped crying and his voice went back to normal.
âCarlos, I was sent away to carry bricks on a construction site because of you. Iâve been in this dull,
terrible place for a month. You canât imagine what Iâve been through. When you pour yourself a drink
and Look out the window of your comfortable villa, do you ever think of me? Does it hurt when you do?â
Debbie was surprised to hear that. âEmmett? Carrying bricks? Because of me?
Why didnât Carlos tell me? I asked him about Emmett, butâ¦â
âSorry, I didnât know,â she apologized.
âNow you know. I want my old job back. Youâre Carlosâ wife. Can you help me out? If you bring me
back, Iâll do anything for you. Anything,â
Emmett pleaded.
âDo anything for me? What about my husband?â
Debbie asked.
âWell, do anything for both of you.â
