Chapter 214
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Debbie promised sheâd put in a good word, but she couldnât promise that
Carlos would forgive him. Swallowing the Lump in his throat, he said that was fine. After ending the
phone call, Debbie looked at the cartons of Lipsticks, wondering what to do next. She had been
thinking of returning the gift to Carlos. She intended to do so resolutely, so she would know that she
couldnât be bought Like that. She wasnât happy.
But Emmettâs phone call made her hesitate. She had to give it more thought before going to Carlosâ
company and talking to him.
When Debbie visited Hilton Group later, Carlos had just come back to his office after a meeting with a
client.
Just like last time, Rhonda received her at the reception desk.
The difference was, this time Rhonda trotted over to her as soon as she saw her.
âNice to see you, Miss Debbie. Youâre here to see Carlos, right?â Without giving Debbie a chance to
say anything, she added with a smile, âCarlos has just returned to his office. Iâll take you there right
away.â
Rhondaâs over-the-top enthusiasm made Debbie uncomfortable. She gave her a smile and said, âOkay,
thanks.â
They walked down the Lushly-carpeted hall, and entered the elevator.
When they left the elevator on the 66th floor, Zelda Potter, another of
Carlosâ secretaries, caught sight of Debbie.
Although Debbie had been here before, for all kinds of reasons, this was the first time Zelda had seen
her. She also didnât look happy to see her. She was definitely different from Rhonda. Colder, more
distant. Debbie wasnât sure she liked her that much. It turned out
Debbieâs first impression was right.
âRhonda, who is this?â
âZelda, this is Miss Debbie. Carlos specifically said we should take her to his office whenever she drops
by,â Rhonda explained.
Zelda hadnât paid much attention to Debbie until now. Hearing what
Rhonda had said, she sized Debbie up and down and said indifferently,
âOkay. Iâll take it from here.â
Debbie smiled, âThank you!â
Zelda, on the other hand, only gave her a sidelong glance before making her way to the CEOâs office.
Debbie pursed her lips at Zeldaâs back disapprovingly. âWhat a rude bitch!â So far, she had met three of
Carlosâ secretaries, the other two being Rhonda and Tristan. Of all of them, Zelda was the most
arrogant.
When they came to the door of Carlosâ office, Zelda knocked and soon
Carlos responded, âCome in.â
With the CEOâs permission, Zelda pushed the door open quietly and said respectfully, âCarlos, thereâs a
Miss Debbie here to see you.â
Debbie took one step forward and saw what was going on in the office.
