Chapter 338
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Debbie Lowered her head and smiled at his stubbornness. When she Looked up again, her eyes were
full of affection.
âJake is only five years old, dear. You have to get over it, or you may begin to sound petty. Do you think
that is good for a man of your reputation?â she asked tenderly.
With a serious expression on his face, Carlos said, âI donât care what other people think of me. I wonât
stand anyone crossing you. Not even a 5-year-old boy. Thatâs my word.â
Messing with his wife meant messing with Carlos himself, and he would not Let anyone get away with
that so easily
It really touched Debbie, to have Carlos taking her side against Megan this time. That was quite out of
the blue. Feigning anger, she pouted her lips and said, âIf you refuse to let it go, it will make me so
anxious I might even cry. Would you kick yourself for making me cry?â
Mulling over her words, Carlos lowered his head and saw the hint of emotion in her eyes. A frown
marred his face. But he misunderstood her mood. Actually she was teary-eyed because she was
touched by how protective he was of her. Sighing in defeat, Carlos didnât get her drift.
âOkay, okay. IâLL Let you have your way, dear. Some concessions canât be avoided between lovebirds,â
he said with a thoughtful look.
Then lowering his head closer to her ear, he whispered, âDonât put on that sulking face, sweet pie, or Iâll
be tempted to carry you to our room for a full body massage.â
Before Debbie could react, Tabitha interrupted them with profound resignation.
âSon, I didnât travel all the way to see you show off.
Give me time with my daughter-in-law too.â
Blushing, Debbie pushed Carlos away immediately and turned to Tabithaâs support.
âMom is right. Carlos, stop being so possessive. You should let me enjoy her company for the little time
sheâs here.â
Then she walked towards Tabitha calmly.
When she approached Tabitha, she held her arm, and pretending that nothing had happened, asked in
a sweet voice, âMom, what were you discussing with Julie?â
No one knew how much courage it took for Debbie to hold Tabithaâs arm and call her âMomâ.
While still holding hands, Tabitha showed Debbie Julieâs notebook filled with recipes.
âWe were discussing what weâre going to eat this evening. But I think it would be wise if we let you
choose. Tell me what your favorite meal is or anything special that youâd want for the night. Iâll gladly
prepare it for you,â Tabitha offered.
It humbled Debbie to have a mother-in-law who, despite all her money and position, was so
affectionate to prepare a meal for her
Sensing the surprised look on Debbieâs face, Tabitha asked, âWell, you donât believe I can cook, do
you?â
Debbie nodded with embarrassment.
âYou got me. I must be the dumbest person here. I donât know how to cookâ¦â
The only time Debbie attempted to cook a meal for Carlos, it was a disaster.
âWhen dad asked me to learn how to cook, I shouldâve listened to him.
Now I so wish I could cook for Carlosâ¦â she rued.
