Chapter 394
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
She could even see the shape of the diamond through her thick sweater.
Luckily, it was winter, and she was wearing a down jacket and a scarf.
It would be highly difficult to spot the rock.
But, she was sure that the ring was probably worth at least tens of millions of dollars. It was the most
expensive gift she had ever received. Mixed emotions flooded her. She was drowned in her own
thoughts when she heard someone calling out her name.
âHey! Tomboy!â a familiar voice shouted behind her.
Turning around, she saw Jared limping over to her. He had a dark circle around his eye as a result of
the punch from a boy yesterday.
âYou didnât hurt your leg yesterday. What happened?â Debbie asked, scowling.
Frustrated, Jared shook his head and explained, âThat bastard, Damon, kicked me when I got home. I
swear heâll pay for this. Why didnât you attend Prof. Heâs class this morning? Was it because your
husband punished you Last night?â
âHe didnât punish me! I-I had something else to do in the morning. Why did Damon kick you?â Debbie
changed the topic as her face turned red at the word âpunish.â
But Jared was too careless to notice the blush. At the mention of
Damon, he said through gritted teeth, âHe thought that he needed to teach me a lesson so that I
wouldnât get into fights again. Damn him!
He really thinks heâs my brother! I donât give a damn about that. IâLL get even with him next time!â
Debbie rolled her eyes and snapped, âWhy do you hate him? He did it for your own good.â Debbie
thought of Damon as a good brother to Jared.
Jared snapped back, âOh really? And I think Carlos does everything for your own good. But you hate
him as well.â
âI donât hate him at all!â Debbie defended herself, frowning at him. âI love him, â she said to herself.
Although she was still mad at Carlos, that didnât mean she didnât love him.
âI clearly remember you calling him a scum when we were drinking yesterday. You were saying that he
dated Olga, Meganâ¦â Jared had apparently heard Debbie grumble last night at the club.
Slapping her hand over his mouth, Debbie yelled, âStop talking nonsense! You obviously misheard me!â
Jared didnât want to bother arguing with Debbie, so he changed the topic and said casually, âThere is a
poverty relief project to support the people in the Southon Village. Are you going to sign up for it?â If his
memory served him right, Debbie was always enthusiastic about this sort of charity events.
âYes! Of course, Iâm going!â Debbie replied firmly. In the past, she didnât have much money, but she still
actively participated in the charity activities. Now that Carlos had given her a large amount of money to
spend as she wished, of course she would go and put that money to good use. âIâLL just be doing
charity on his behalf, â she thought to herself and she was okay with it as long as she could help others
in need.
âI knew it!â Jared groaned.
âBut Southon Village is the poorest village in our country. The conditions there are awful. Besides, itâs
winter and the event will go on for at Least a week. Are you sure you want to torture yourself by doing
this?â
His words did scare Debbie a little. She hesitated, but when Carlosâ face popped up in her mind, she
gritted her teeth and said, âYes, Iâm sure. Iâve made up my mind.â
Although Jared was dressed in a warm down jacket, he suddenly felt the whole world freeze after
hearing her reply. A chill ran down his spine when he thought about accompanying Debbie to such a
remote place where even a heater was a luxury. He couldnât help but pull his down jacket tighter
around himself as his body trembled.
In the multimedia classroom
Kasie repeatedly shook her head in disbelief.
