Just then, the door to another room opened and Miranda walked out.
Casting a cold glance at Megan, she demanded, âWhat are you doing here?
Donât you need sleep?â
Tabitha smiled, âMiranda, Megan and Debbie had a squabble. Weâre trying to sort the issue out, before
she goes to bed.â
Miranda furrowed her eyebrows, annoyed by Meganâs crying.
âStop crying for heavenâs sake! Itâs New Yearâa day of celebration. Crying is bad luck. Besides, are
you a snowflake or something? I hate people bawling all the time. You should learn something from
Debbie. Now, get back to your room and get some shut-eye.â
Instantly, Megan stopped crying. With a pitiful expression, she apologized to Miranda.
âIâm sorry, Miranda. Iâm leaving now. Have a good night.â
Connie helped Megan walk to her room. When they walked past Miranda,
Connie said softly, âMom, have a good rest.â
Miranda nodded at Connie and then went back to her room. Despite

âMom, why arenât you in bed? Itâs late,â she said with a smile.
