Chapter 56
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Chapter: 57
In the classroom, Debbie was leaning on her desk and pondering about
Carlosâ and her marriage. For a while, she almost forgot about it. And when she did remember, she
made sure that it did not affect her normal life.
With the new complications that she was forced to deal with, it was going to be more difficult now than
before.
Making sure no one was looking, she allowed herself to seethe in secret. Her anger was not directed to
anyone else, but herself. âI thought I was brave enough, â she thought. âBut the moment I was in front of
him, I got cold feet and didnât know what to say! I didnât even dare to mention the whole divorce thing.
What a coward I was!â
Frustrated, Debbie buried her head under her arms. If Carlos was unwilling to divorce her, was she
going to have a stressful life from now on?
âI seduced Jared and made eyes at Emmett in front of Carlos on purpose.
Everyone knows he hates that type of woman, so he should have been enraged by it!
He should have signed the divorce papers last night. But why did he not do it? Oh God! I just cannot
understand that man.â
While Debbie was internally caught up in her dilemma, Kasieâs voice rang in her ears and brought her
back to earth.
âHey guys,â the cheerful lady said, âtomorrow is Kristinaâs birthday. Weâre going to have a party in a bar
tomorrow night. If youâre coming with us, please go to Dixon to enter your name.â
Whenever there was an upcoming party or event, Dixon would be in charge of the head count of the
people who were going to participate. After all, he was very meticulous about everything â it was a job
for a perfectionist.
So, at the mention of Kristinaâs birthday, he had already asked who was going to come and take part in
the occasion. Debbie, who was one of
Kristinaâs good friends, sat up straight as if she was going to make an announcement.
âKristina, youâll be twenty years old, isnât that right?â she inquired, making sure she was not mistaken
even though she knew she couldnât be wrong. She knew the celebrant better than anybody else ever
did.
Kristina took Debbieâs arm and gently placed her cheek against her shoulder.
âYes, thatâs right. I canât wait to celebrate my birthday.
Itâs gonna be grand!â she exclaimed in excitement.
It was fortunate that nothing that would harm Debbie had happened Last night. Otherwise, the
celebrant would have paid no mind to her birthday and would show no interest in celebrating it.
However, this did not mean that she did not have a hunch that something bad could have happened
the night before. She was wondering how Debbie had managed to escape Carlosâ wrath. But, she
knew she had better set it aside and just ask her friend in some private time Later
Kristina and Debbie were already having their own mini celebration while holding each otherâs hands in
excitement when Kasie, who looked into a vanity mirror to fix her hair, rolled her eyes and snickered
âYou should stay away from that tomboy, Kristina. You make it seem Like sheâs your boyfriend. Just
thinking about it gives me goosebumps.â
Kristina, who actually genuinely loved the friendship she had with
Debbie, cast Kasie a challenging look and snapped back, âYou talk as if you didnât use to pester her
like I do.â She stroked her long, curly hair and thought, âI should dye my hair like Debbieâs. The colors
Look great on her. Iâm sure it would look more vivid under the sun.â She compared her hair to her
friendâs.
Debbie put her arm around her friendâs shoulders like a boy would and argued in her defense, âLadies,
please do not quarrel over me. Thereâs more to go around. Whatâs our next class? Letâs get to it.â
âYou really are meandering mindlessly, huh? Thereâs no more class. We need to get lunch,â Kasie
reminded her in a very sarcastic tone. With resignation, she shoved her mirror and books inside her
bag and went ahead to the cafeteria.
