Chapter 647
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Carlos made no response this time. Curtis dropped into silence and even the talkative Damon kept his
mouth shut. Pin-drop silence filled the air around them.
Since Megan was still in a coma, they couldnât visit her now. Then,
Curtis asked Carlos about Debbieâs ward number and found out it was just a few steps away.
When he pushed open the door of Debbieâs ward, he saw the girl lying in bed, looking rather annoyed.
Hearing the footsteps, she instantly sat up.
âHello, Mr. Loftus,â she said by way of greeting.
Curtis nodded to her.
Debbie flashed an awkward smile.
âMr. Loftus, let me guess. Is this about me pushing Megan into the river?â
The four most respected men in Alorith had always spoiled Megan, so
Debbie had already mentally prepared for any blame from them before she carried out her plan.
Unexpectedly, Curtis touched her head and smiled to her tenderly.
âWhat are you talking about? Debbie, you have a far more important place in my heart than Megan.â
âWhat? Wait, wait. Whatâs that affectionate look in his eyes? Does heâ¦â In a fluster, Debbie moved
away to avoid his touch and stared at him.
âAre youâ¦youâ¦a two-timer?â she stammered.
Curtis was amused by her question. He slightly patted her head and said, âWow, you definitely took that
wrong. You arenât scared of
Carlos, but Iâm scared of Colleen throwing me out of the house!â
Debbie wanted to laugh, but with Carlosâ name being mentioned, she suddenly pulled a long face.
Seeing the gloom on her face, Curtis sat down next to her and pulled the corner of the quilt. He said
helplessly, âDidnât Colleen tell you not to fight with Carlos over Megan? Why canât you get that through
your head?â
Debbie smiled bitterly.
âMegan went too far this time. There wouldnât have been so many fights if it werenât for her.â
Their relationship was worsening these days because of Megan stirring up trouble all the time, and
besides, Carlos seeing her and Hayden stay in the villa together also made things worse.
âCarlos has been in a pickle because of you two girls. But he already knew you and Megan were like
water and fire, so he granted guardianship of Megan to Wesley, asking him to spend more time taking
care of her.
Iâm sure youâre much more important to Carlos than Megan,â Curtis said, patiently comforting her.
There were a lot of things that Debbie didnât know. But Curtis had seen with his own eyes how much
Carlos cared about her. So he thought he should at least tell her that much.
Before Debbie came into Carlosâ life, Carlos had almost devoted all his spare time to Megan.
But after he fell in love with Debbie, Megan was no longer his top priority. Especially knowing that
Debbie didnât like Megan, Carlos had always tried his best to keep his distance from Megan. Curtis saw
all of this. He knew for that to happen, the cold, proud man must care deeply for her.
