Chapter 786
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Derek turned around and saw that Marcusâ hands were clasped together on his abdomen.
âYou were right, Mr. Thomas,â he reported slowly. âMrs. Thomas is indeed the person Leon had been
searching for. During the investigation, we found out that Mrs. Thomas had an incident with fire which
made her lose some of her memories.
Thatâs why she canât remember him. Also, at the time, she used to wear a mask all the time, and her
appearance has changed since then. It explains why Leon cannot recognize her either.â
Marcusâ eyes darkened.
Derek continued, âDuring the investigation, we discovered that there were a lot of false information
hindering the truth. The person who was in charge of the investigation almost fell for them, but dug
deeper until he found out the truth.â
Marcusâ frown deepened.
Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to keep the truth from Leon. Who could it be?
Who it was didnât matter. What truly mattered, was the fact that Millie was really the one Leon was
searching for.
Marcus seemed to have stopped breathing. He couldnât move a single muscle.
Seeing this, Derek added, âIf you ask me, sir, there is no need for you to worry. Leon believes that
Fiona is the woman he has been looking for. And now that Fiona has so greatly disappointed him, he
should be able to move on from the past and forget about that woman. Besides, itâs something of the
past. Even if Mrs. Thomas does remember it, which isnât likely, I doubt she will go to him because of it.
Just because he longs for what they had doesnât mean she will too.â
Marcus looked down, his heart momentarily softened as he recalled Millieâs heartfelt confession the
previous night. Her voice had been so soft as she said, âI think Iâve fallen in love with you.â
When Marcus didnât say anything, Derek went a mile further. âIf necessary, sir, we can simply eliminate
Leon.â
Marcusâ eyes snapped up at the man. âDonât you have confidence in me?â

âOf course I do, sir. Even if Mrs. Thomas knows about this, she will still choose you.
I donât think anyone else can compare to you. However, like I said, if you consider it a potential issue,
we can address and resolve it discreetly,â Derek explained. ere Are We Going To Have Dinner
During Derekâs training on Raven Island, all he saw in Marcus was courage, resourcefulness, wisdom
and the rare ability to always get himself out of danger.
Derek had utmost respect for Marcus. He thought that there was no better man than his boss.
Marcus had faced countless dangerous situations before. Yet, his eyes were filled with fear as he
looked out of the window.
This wasnât him. He always had to be self-confident.
A sudden knock on the window brought him back to earth. He looked up and saw a familiar face.
Marcus racked his brain to recall who it was. He had a tendency to forget womenâs faces quickly.
Then it clicked. It was the girl that once came to his hotel room with a scarf for him.
