Chapter 862
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
âMillie, how are things back home? Did you visit Joan?â
âHomeâs a bit damp, but Iâm well. I visited Joan and shared dinner at her place. She eagerly awaits your
return.â
Grandmaâs joy resonated through the phone.
âTell her Iâll be returning soon.â
After her conversation with Grandma, Millie dialed Marcus.
âHoney.â Marcusâ voice enveloped her as soon as the call connected. With a soft clearing of her throat,
Millie expressed, âI arrived around five in the afternoon. Are you home?â
A warm chuckle echoed.
âI just arrived at my doorstep. Have you eaten?â
âIndeed, I have. Joanâs skill in crafting bread results in delectable delights,â Millie replied, her voice
imbued with sweetness and happiness.
Under the embrace of the starlit sky and the gentle night breeze, Millie reveled in the joy of sharing the
same celestial canvas with her beloved.
Returning home alongside an angry Laurel, Roland bore the stains of mud. Deliaâs surprise greeted
their arrival.
âWhat happened, Laurel? Did you fall into a ditch?â she inquired, her gaze sweeping over the muddy
spectacle.
âIâm going to shower first,â Laurel said gloomily before retreating indoors.
With a glare, Delia reproached her son, her eyes wide with shock.
âYou are a fool. Donât you know that the flowers at the door bring prosperity? Look at what youâve done!
The flower bed is in shambles. I am exasperated with you!â

Superstitions held sway over the villagersâ beliefs and actions.
In Rolandâs perception, his actions appeared devoid of any wrongdoing.
âI presented those flowers to your impending daughter-in-law. Criticizing me is uncalled for. Isnât your
daughter-in-law of greater significance than the flowers?â Roland countered, his tone defensive as he
justified his actions.
âMy daughter-in-law? Did she accept your floral offering?â Delia questioned angrily, aware that Millie
had declined his gift, as evident from Rolandâs forlorn expression.
Roland waved his hand dismissively and said, âI am heading inside.â
