No sooner had Tristan turned around than he heard Carlos say, âI donât want to see Emmett again in
the next two years.â
Shocked to the bone, Tristan prayed for Emmett silently.
Finally, it was Carlosâ first day as a lecturer at the Economics and
Management School. He started his day earlier than usual. However, to his disappointment, even after
he had exercised, showered and eaten his breakfast, he still didnât see Debbie anywhere.

âDebbie has asked for a one-week leave from school. She went to the airport early this morning,â he

âA one-week leave? Why am I just hearing about this now?â

Within one hour, Debbie and her Luggage showed up in the CEOâs office at Hilton Group.
As soon as she stepped into the office, she left her luggage against the wall, and hastened towards
Carlosâ desk.
âCarlos, whatâs this supposed to mean? Why did you do this? Donât I have my own freedom anymore?â
Carlos didnât say a word until he had finished going through the papers in his hand. He raised his sights
to her face and said, âCome to the university with me this afternoon.â
âNo.â Debbie refused him outright.
Disappointed, Carlos got out of his chair and asserted, âToo bad, you donât have a choice!â
Debbie slumped in an armchair in shock. Stunned, and not to mention angered, she finally spoke again
after a moment.
âSince you are not so busy right now, letâs get to the matter weâve been talking about without mincing
our words. Iâve already signed the divorce papers. I really hope that you would do the same for me, for
us, so that we can go our separate ways and carry on with our own lives.â Ever since the idea of a
divorce had popped into her head, it had always been there at the back of her mind.
