Chapter 966
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
âIâLL expedite our research and development,â Harlan promised, pulling on black gloves and checking
his phone.
Having known Marcus for so long, he could read the signs of the toll this injury was taking on him.
âItâs late. I need to head back,â Marcus said, glancing at his watch before turning to leave. He wanted to
be with Millie.
The thought of her brought a smile to his face.
Meanwhile, in the barâs main hall downstairs, a man, dressed rather flamboyantly, approached Millie
and placed a hand on her shoulder.
âBeauty, are you feeling Lonesome?â
Millie removed his grimy hand with a look of disgust, rising to her feet and preparing to find another
spot.
The man wasnât ready to let her go so easily. He quickly moved to obstruct her path.
âYouâre quite the fiery one,â he leered, enjoying the challenge.
âI like your spirit.â
Millieâs brows knitted together in annoyance.
âMove out of my way,â she commanded.
A flicker of embarrassment crossed the manâs face before he retorted, âDo you even know who I am?
Consider yourself lucky that Iâve taken a liking to you. Youâll be drinking with me tonight, whether you
like it or not.â
In response, Millie grabbed a glass of juice from the table and unceremoniously splashed it across the
manâs face.
âYou bitch! How dare you defy me? Men, surround her! She needs to be taught a lesson today!â he
spat, wiping the liquid from his face. Several others, similarly dressed in flashy attire, advanced
menacingly.
Angelaâs Library
âWhat do you think youâre doing?â
Millieâs voice wavered as she found herself encircled by the unruly group, fear creeping into her heart.
She looked around for her friend Grace but realized she must have gone to private rooms.
The pulsating music filled the air, its rhythm undulating as people lost themselves in revelry. Those who
happened to pass by merely glanced at the unfolding drama before moving on. It was not their
problem, and nobody seemed willing to intervene.
The manâs demeanor shifted, and he smiled insincerely at Millie.
âDonât be so nervous,â he cooed. âI simply want to share a drink with you because of your beauty. Have
this glass of wine, and Iâll let you go.â
With a flourish, he raised his hand, and a companion handed him a glass filled with an odd-looking pink
drink.
He offered the glass to Millie, his smile turning into a lascivious grin.
