Chapter 968
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
At that moment, through the surging crowd, Nancy spotted a tall figure. Was she hallucinating? Why
was Marcus here? But no, she saw clearly. It was Marcus, and he was approaching.
In a hushed tone, Nancy warned, âRhea, call them off. Marcus is on his way.â
âWhat?â
Rheaâs panic was palpable as she spotted Marcus too and quickly ordered
âStop. Letâs leave.â
One of their crew didnât hear her and lunged for Millie, who swung the chair in his direction.
A sudden scream broke the tension.
Holding her hand, struck by Millie, Nancy wailed, âMy hand! Itâs hurting. I think itâs broken.â
Staring at the source of the scream, Millieâs shock was palpable. Why had she hit Nancy?
âMr. Thomas, Millie struck my hand with a chair. Itâs in agony, and I believe itâs broken.â
Nancy gazed at Marcus with tear-filled eyes, her expression pitiable.
And why had Marcus come?

A momentary fog clouded Millieâs mind. She turned to find Marcus striding purposefully toward her.
Marcusâ eyes swept the scene before settling on Millie, still clutching the chair.
âMillie, how could you be so cruel?â Nancy wailed.
âIâm preparing the jewelry for the wedding. As a designer, my hands are my livelihood. Are you so
envious that you would do this? If my hands are broken, I canât design anymore. Youâve shown such
malice.â
Millie remained composed. âYou were the one rushing at me. I had no intention of striking you.â
The moment Marcus appeared, she understood Nancyâs game. Nancy intended to frame her, to make
Marcus see her as vindictive.
âCome now, admit it. You hit me. Iâve known for some time that you resented me, but I never thought
you could be so ruthless as to attempt to break my hands,â Nancy pressed.
Millieâs eyes darted around, only to find that the man in flowery clothing and his companions had
vanished, and Rhea had slipped away. Evidence to support her innocence was nowhere to be found.
They must have fled when Marcus approached.
Then Nancy turned to Marcus, her voice desperate.
âMr. Thomas, you must do something. My hand is injured, and I havenât completed the design drawing.
I canât even pick up paper now, let alone a pen.â
