I Gotchu: Part II

( Rico's POV )

I made my way out of India's house and drove to Shay's house. She called saying she missed me and I lowkey missed her too. Plus I was third wheeling and shit, I love them niggas but I'm good on that.

When I pulled up to Shay's house I called her phone.

Shay: Hello.

Me: I'm outside.

Shay: Kay.

She hung up and I waited for her to come outside. We've been chilling together lately. Nothing too serious though. I don't do relationships plus she got unresolved problems with some nigga.

My car door opened knocking me out of my thoughts.

Shay: Heyy love.

She put her seatbelt on while I admired her .

Me: You look good ma.

She smiled showing her perfect white teeth.

Shay: Awe really ? I just threw this on.

Me: So whatchu wanna do today ?

She smiled.

Shay: I dunno just wanna hang with you. It doesn't matter what we do.

Me: Okay bet. You hungry ?

Her smile got bigger.

Shay: You know I love to eat.

I chuckled.

Me: Greedy ass. Whatchu in the mood for ?

She didn't say anything for a while and when I turned my attention to her she looked like she was in deep thought.

Shay: Let's get Taco Bell.

Me: Bet, that sounds good as fuck.

Me and Shay have been friends since 7th grade. I met her through Jasmine. She's about a year and a half older then me. She was actually Jasmine's crush for the longest when we were younger. Shay has always been beautiful to me I've just never tried anything with her because we were close friends. As we got older, she got sexier but I figured Jasmine was fucking with her so I didn't try anything but lately Shay has been the only female I've been chilling with. I guess you could call her my vibe.

Shay: What are you over there thinking about ?

Me: You.

She blushed.

Shay: Me ? What about me ?

Me: It's weird that we never really hung out until after we graduated.

Shay: We've hung out before. I used to come to your house all the time.

I laughed.

Me: I don't mean to tutor me or help me study. I meant like vibe together.

Shay: What nigga ? We've been lit plenty of times together.

Me: Nah, not just the two of us. There was always someone else with us. I started to believe you were scared to be around me alone.

She shook her head laughing.

Shay: Honestly...I was.

We pulled into Taco Bell's parking lot and made our way inside.

Me: Really ? Why?

Shay: Because you were mean as hell, it scared me sometimes.

I laughed and shook my head in disbelief.

Me: You're the mean one. A couple months back, in school I heard you knocked some girl out. I never got the name but that's some mean girl shit. If anything, I'm the one who should've been scared.

Shay: Yeah, well lets just say bitches got what they deserved.

She slick smiled.

Me: See, evil !

I laughed motioning toward the way she was smiling. She playfully mushed my head.

Shay: But me and you weren't really as cool as you and Jasmine were. You guys were inseparable.

Me: Yeah, Jas my dawg for life. And honestly I though y'all was fucking with each other.

She rolled her eyes and before she could say anything the cashier lady asked to take our order.

Minutes later we had our food and were headed back to my car.

Me: Where to now?

Shay: Let's go to your crib.

Me: Ight.

We got in and I pulled off in the direction of my home.

When we made it there I turned the car off and we got our making our way to my front door.

Shay: You're right, I haven't been over here in a while.

Me: Who fault is that ?

Shay: Um yours. You never invite me over.

Me: Bro when have you ever needed an invitation?

She bit her lip to hide her smile.

Me: Exactly what I thought.

When we got inside Shay made her way to the living room, picking a movie for us to watch.

Shay: Your phone is ringing.

I walked over and answered without looking at the caller id.

Me: Hello ?

??: Hello, Ashley Gonzalez?

It was a women.

Me: Yes.

??: Hello, I'm Dr. Daniels. I'm calling to inform you that your mother has awakened. She is being moved to our operating room but she insisted that we gave you a call first.

Me: I'm on my way.

My heart was now racing and everything started moving in slow motion.

Shay: Are you okay? What's going on ?

Even though she was right next to me her voice sounded so far away. I felt like I was going to pass out, I couldn't even speak.

Shay: Rico ? Relax, okay? Take a breath I'm gonna get you water.

She ran to the kitchen and I sat down trying to catch my breath. I placed my hands together and prayed. At this moment all I did was beg God not to take my mom right now. I need her and I'm not ready to lose her, it would break me.

Once I had myself together I was ready to get to my mom.

Shay: Come on let's go.

She grabbed my keys and I followed her out my house.

Shay: What hospital is she in ?

I figured she put two and two together when she heard my prayers.

Me: The one on St. Luis Ave.

She nodded and pulled off in the direction of the hospital. The ride there was silent. I didn't say a word, mostly because I had so many thoughts going through my mind.

While we were sitting at a red light Shay placed her hand on mine and interlocked our fingers. I looked toward her and she gave me a warm smile. It felt so comforting, I instantly calm down a little.

Shay: I'm here for you.

I kissed her hand and laid my head back on the seat.

We finally made our way to the hospital. Before Shay even parked the car I jumped out running to the entrance.

I went straight to the desk.

Nurse: How can I help you?

Me: I'm looking for my mother Nicole Gonzalez.

She started typing on the computer and I grew impatient.

Nurse: Yeah, your mother has been moved to an operating room.

Me: What ? One of the doctors called me a few minutes ago and told me she wanted to speak to me first !

Nurse: Yes, I understand but she needed to be moved urgently due to her condition.

I cursed under my breath.

Me: How long is this shit gonna take ?

Nurse: The operation can take hours ma'am. You're welcome to have a seat in our waiting room.

I gave her the deadliest glare I've ever gave. I felt like snapping at her but I felt my arm being tugged on.

Shay: Rico come sit.

She pulled me toward a chair and I sat down then she sat in my lap while I laid on her chest.

My phone dinged letting me know I was getting a message. I pulled my phone from my pocket and saw that it was Jasmine asking me if I was good. I texted her back letting her know wassup and she said she was on her way.

I dunno why but I feel like she can feel when I'm down because she's always there at just the right moment, this why she's my best friend.

My mind was overflown with thoughts and I was starting to get a head ache so I took a nap on Shay.

( India' POV )

Jasmine and I were on our way to the hospital. I can't even imagine how Rico is feeling right now. I've never been through what she's going through.

We pulled up to the hospital and made our way to the door. Jasmine hasn't said anything to me since we left the house. I understand why though, she's lost her mother and this may be bringing back memories. Also Rico is her best friend so I know she knows how she's feeling.

When we got to the entrance she opened the door for me. We walked scanning the room searching for Rico.

Jasmine: I called her a few times she didn't answer.

Me: I think that's her right there. Did she bring someone with her ?

I noticed Rico sleeping with a girl in her lap.

Jasmine: She didn't say.

We made our way to them and you won't believe who it was. I had this instinct to yank this bitch by her hair all through this hospital but I know this ain't the place for that.

I mean mugged Jasmine.

Jasmine: Why you looking at me like that ?

Me: Did you know she was going to be here ?

Jasmine: Does it look like I knew she was gonna be here ?

I rolled my eyes and before I could speak guess who had to open her big ass mouth.

Shay: Look who's here.

She stood up and stretched then Rico woke up.

Rico: Wassup y'all ?

Jasmine: Wassup brody.

Me: Hey Rico

Rico dapped Jasmine up and gave me a hug.

Rico: I'll be right back.

She walked up to the desk and started talking to the nurse.

I felt like Jasmine was avoiding eye contact with me, her eyes were glued to her phone. I also noticed Shay's eyes glued on Jasmine.

Me: Stop staring at my girlfriend.

Shay scuffed.

Shay: Girlfriend?

Jasmine: Yup, girlfriend.

Jasmine came over and sat next to me putting her arm over my shoulder. Shay rolled her eyes and walked over to where Rico was.

I turned toward Jasmine.

Me: Oh now you wanna talk to me?

Jasmine: Whatchu mean ?

Me: I hate when you go a while without talking to me.

I looked down playing with my fingers.

Jasmine: Awe I'm sorry bebe.

She smiled and kissed my lips.

Shay: Awe how cute ?

Rico and Shay walked up and sat where they were sitting before.

Jasmine: What they say ?

Rico: Man she still in the surgery room. They saying she's gonna be in there for the rest of the night.

She put her head in her hands and Jasmine walked over to comfort her.

Shay kept looking at me which was getting on my nerves. The only reason why I haven't dragged this bitch yet is because I don't want to disrespect Rico. But she's testing me and I can feel it.

I got up and walked outside. I can't be in there with her. I really don't understand how Jasmine and Rico can be friends with that bitch.

I sat on a bench outside and enjoyed the peaceful quiet. My phone rang in my purse so I fished for it.

Suddenly everything got dark and I felt myself being yanked over someone's shoulder. I screamed, punched and kicked whoever had a hold of me but they wouldn't let go. I screamed louder and louder and the person kept walking. He stuck me in my leg with something then threw me down. I couldn't see a thing nor could I move.

I heard a door close and felt movement. I realized that I was in the back of a van or something. Soon my body grew weak and I could even scream anymore.

I passed out into a deep sleep.
