Desires Die Hard (Anya and Evan) by Beryl Occam
Chapter 141

Evan found himself at a loss for words
But he wasnât interested in getting into the details of the matter and explaining something that he believed was mere triviality. The young man dragged Anya forcefully into his black Bentley instead.
He waited for the driver to shut the door behind them.
Then, he pulled the screen between the driverâs seat and the back of the car down. As soon as the screen was shuttered, the latter half of the car became a private area shared by only Anya and Evan
The faint scent of incense filled the inside of the dimly lit car
The dimly lit interior and the faint scent of incense set a sudden and strange mood in the car.
Anya wanted to get out. Unfortunately, the door was locked. The car was also moving.
She could struggle all she wanted but she knew that she was trapped.
The young woman leaned into the door and put as much distance between herself and Evan. There was a hint of anger in her voice when she spoke. âMr. Welton, you have no care for the feelings of others, do you?â
She was infuriated. That explained her bluntness
Otherwise, she would have tried to bear with the man and kept her silence instead.
Evan snorted lightly. He wasnât going to admit that Anya was right. He hadnât spared a thought for her feelings at all and that he had been an utter bully. Instead, he simply replied mildly. âRain tried to put you in a spot. That wonât happen again. You donât have to worry about her anymore.â
Anya threw a glance at the man after he was done talking. After a moment, she spoke. âThanks, Mr. Welton. But I would be more grateful if you could leave me alone.â
She wouldnât find herself in so much grief without his constant harassment.
He was the reason other women were trying to make her life a living hell.
She knew that her words would upset Evan and incur the manâs wrath.
But she was mistaken. The man wasnât upset at all.
Instead, the look of resentment on Anyaâs face merely sparked a devilish sort of desire in Evan. He was seized by the urge to make the woman submit to his will.
The lights in the car were extremely dim. The only source of illumination came from the faint streetlights spilling into the car through the windows. The soft light cast Anyaâs face in a faint glow and lit her angelic features up. Honestly, the woman was gorgeous.

Chapter 141
Evanâs eyes darkened as he gazed at the woman before him.
The fact that he had had a few drinks didnât help. His inhibitions had been lowered and the gates in his head opened, his most primal instinct and urges rushing past said gates. Evanâs eyes darkened further. He leaned forward without any warning, casting a looming shadow over Anyaâs petite form. His fingers reached forward and were a ghostly touch against her soft silky hair. He started combing his fingers through the long dark strands. His voice was husky and hoarse. âWhere did she hit you?â
They were too close. She simply had to lift her chin up slightly to kiss the man.
Anya panicked immediately. She stuck her arm out and slammed her hand into Evanâs chest. The thin white shirt under her palm felt soft. Denials flew from her lips. âShe didnât. Iâm fine.â
âHonestlyâ¦wonât you consider my offer?â Evan continued playing with the womanâs hair. His voice sounded warm and soothing like a song played by a bass. âBecoming my lover will be a good deal for you. You get to have a house and a generous allowance. Iâll buy you everything.â
Evanâs voice was slow and measured. The touch of his fingers as he played with Anyaâs hair was electrifying. The young
woman felt a shiver ripple down her back.
The man just wouldnât give up until he got what he wanted.
He might be distant and unapproachable but he was also undeniably attractive.
It made sense that women swooned and lost their minds at the sight of him.
Anya didnât lose her mind though and her rational mind told her that Evan was only looking for someone to fall in bed with.
She wasnât interested in that.
It didnât matter what he offered her. She wasnât interested in any of it.
Anya ignored the electrifying shiver running down her back as she issued a firm rejection. âMr. Welton, itâs a generous offer with attractive conditions. Iâm sure many women out there would be willing to take it up. But Iâm not interested.â
âWhat are you interested in having?â Evan stared at the woman in his arms with his dark eyes. He could barely stop himself
from kissing her.
In fact, he would like to do so much more than that.
What was Anya interested in having?
She would like to have Evan out of her sight and away from her.
That was exactly what he had demanded of her a year ago.
Anya stared at the bullish man before her. Out of nowhere, came a sudden burst of courage. She blurted out bluntly. âMr. Welton, I would like you to stay away from me.â
There. She had said it. He might fire her for what she had said. She didnât mind.

Chapter 141
He might get mad and decide that she wasnât worth the trouble. He might finally leave her alone.
The man was the most soughtâafter bachelor in the city, after all.
Why would he harass a poor woman who wasnât interested in reciprocating his interest?

Anya was sorely mistaken. Evan wasnât the sort of man who wouldnât let up or spend any time on someone he wasnât Interested in. But once his interest was piqued, he wasnât going to give up until he got what he wanted.
That was why Anyaâs seemingly brutal words were met with a low chuckle. The manâs laugh was soft and melodic. It was a devilâs laugh and held a devilâs charm. The man leaned in and pressed his lips against her ear. His breath felt like a brand on her skin. âSounds like a challengeâs been issued. But you should know something. I always get what I want.â
