My Bestfriend's Brother Shouldn't Know How I Taste

Bailey's pov

"I can't believe you called the cops on the kids last night, Blake.” Mom

snorted in a hushed tone. I stopped abruptly on the last stair and

listened to the two talk.

“ Technically I called my mom. It's not like anyone would've gotten

arrested. Just to scare them off.” Dad's response made my jaw drop.

Did my dad really call grandma Ryn last night to stop the party?

I bit my bottom lip, not sure if to laugh or not. His intervene, well

grandma Ryn's intervene I should say, did save me last night. If it were

not for them I'd not be able to get out of the stupid game.

I smiled and continued on my path to the kitchen where both of my

parents are. Dad is seated around the island, sipping on some

steaming coffee, while mom is cutting up some fruits.

When they noticed my presence mom sent me a sheepish smile while

dad looked away. " Good morning." I greeted.

" Good morning baby. Did you have a good night rest? You look tired."

Mom worried her bottom lip between her teeth.

Dad turn to study me, his brows furrowing in worry.

I looked down and fit myself on a stool. " Just had a restless night."

I couldn't find comfort in my bed last night after Mira's text. I didn't text

her back, which is odd of me and I know she'd find it weird.

I made a mental note to text her back soon.

"Is everything okay? It's not because of the party is it?" Mom gave dad

a pointed stare and I stifle a laugh but could not hold back my smile.

My parents were adorable and I could never be mad at them.

"No it's not. It's not anything to worry about actually. It's just that I am

overthinking about the next exam coming up.” I shrugged and looked at

the two.

I grinned. " Why would you think it had anything to do with the party? Is

it because you had grandma Ryn scaring the kids?"

Dad choked on his coffee and mom comes over to quickly pat his back.

The tips of his ears redden and I giggled, throwing my palm over my

mouth to stop from roaring in loud laughter.

" About that, I didn't-

I shook my head, grinning widely. " It's okay dad." I reach over to pat

his hand. " I'm not mad about it."

In fact I am so grateful he did. I just wish grandma Ryn did it sooner.

"I guess grandma Ryn still uses her siren.” I giggled. Grandma Ryn

was a retired cop but still occasionally throw on her siren to scare

people off.

Dad chuckled. "That's her other kid, she will never let it go."

Mom shook her head and rubbed dad's back. " I told him to not do it

Bailey."

I shrugged. " It really does not bother me mom. I'd probably do the

same if I had a teenage daughter out at a party.”

Dad looked at mom cockily. * See baby, she gets it."

Mom rolled her eyes. “ You two are exactly the same." Looking over at

me she pointed to the picnic basket to my left. * Mind scooting this over

to me? Ricky and Lilian are going to have a picnic today."

Wrapping my hair up in a bun, I hear the distinct sound of a buzz. I

looked over at my phone and saw Mira's name flash on the screen. I

sighed. I had forgotten to text her back.

I groaned. She's probably trying to call me to rant about not messaging

her after last night.

Sighing I picked up my phone. If I did not answer her, she'd give me

hell.

My brows furrowed when I saw it was a video call and not our usual

three way call. Out of curiosity, I swiped the answer button only to be

greeted with Mira's frightened face.

Her eyes are wide and her bottom lip is trembling slightly.

My heart drops in worry. What the hell happened.

" Mira, what's wrong?" I rushed out, my heart speeding.

She shook her head. " I don't know what's wrong Bailey. My brother-

She stopped, swallowing.

My heart fell to my stomach at the mention of her brother. Did

something happen to him? Was he okay?

My hands got clammy as my heart sped in my chest. " What's going on

Mira? What's wrong with Kaleb!?"

Her face got closer to the screen, as if she was about to tell me a

secret. " Bailey, Kaleb woke up and stormed out of the house this

morning. He told no one where he was going, but I just got off the

phone with Ryan and he just informed me Kaleb is at Stefan's place.”

He's at Stefan's place? If so, what was wrong with that?

It's not like he had never been at Stefan's, the two were best of friends.

But then her next words made the blood drain out of my face.

" They're fighting Bailey. Kaleb is beating him up.”
