Bailey's pov

Her glare intensifies when I breathed in sharply, my shaky fingers

reaching for the door handle to open the door. But before my finger's

could latch on, Kaleb stops me.

“1 will go out to speak to her. " He said softly, squeezing my hand.

Mira's eyes storm with anger and she huffed, straightening her spine

and crossed her arms when her brother stepped out of the car.

I jolt when the door closes behind him and shrink into the seat as Kaleb

stormed towards her.

"What the hell Mirabella?" Kaleb snapped. " If you want to be angry at

someone be angry at me, not her!"

Mira stepped forward, pointing a finger at his chest before jabbing it

directly in the middle of his sternum. * Oh I'm livid, you good for nothing

lousy asshole! You just had to go for her didn't you!" She yelled.

Her voice created an echo that brought on others attention and to my

horror, my mom and dad stepped out and just behind them is Lilian and

Kristina is holding Lilian in a comforting manner in the doorway while

mom and dad made their way over.

"You could have had any girl you wanted!" Mira's loud screech made

the poor birds in their nest fly away. " Hell you've had every girl at our

school except her and Kristina! But of course you just couldn't help

yourself!"

I flinched, biting my lip and looked over at mom and dad. They've

stopped in their tracks, completely taken aback by the confrontation

happening before them.

" Why my best friend Kaleb!?" Mira yelled, now pushing her brother

with her palms. Kaleb's eyes are glistening and I know he's emotional

with the way his sister is acting.

I gripped the door handle, swallowed and opened the door.

The two didn't notice I am out of the car and continue to glare and spit

at each other.

"Why her!" Mira blasted, her pushes now more aggressive and Kaleb

stumble back slightly. * Why her?" Mira cried.

Kaleb suddenly gripped her wrists, stopping her from pushing him

further as he yelled. " Because I fell for her Mira! I fell in love with her!"

Mira paused, frozen on the spot as she stared at her brother with

slightly widened eyes. Kaleb looked down at her in exasperation and

breathed out a puff of irritated air.

He lets her entrapped wrists go and took a step back, staring her down

with hurt and frustration in his gaze. " I didn't plan this." He whispered,

his eyes shiny. " I didn't plan this Mirabella. Hell," He swallowed.

"I had been fighting it for so long that," He lift his shoulders up in a lazy

shrug, pushing out a soft unbelievable chuckle out of his mouth.

"I could no longer keep fighting. I gave up. I gave up fighting my

feelings for her. I could no longer bare lying to myself."

His addams apple bobbed as he swallowed, his emotions pouring out

of his gaze. " Do you know how many years I kept this to myself

Mirabella?"

He chuckled but it lacks humor, it lacks emotion. * Do you know how

painful it was to keep lying to myself that I was not falling hard for your

best friend?" he shook his head. " I went fucking years telling myself

that she was just as irritating as you! That she was like a little annoying

sister! That I could not love her."

His head lowers, his eyes casted down. " There was so much lying I

could do Mira. There's so much lies my mind can take before it

explodes.” He kicked a small stone and pushed his hands in his

pockets, looking up to stare at his sister.

My gut twisted when I saw his eyes were not only clouded with

emotions but with tears. " So if you want to be mad at someone, be

mad at me for not fighting hard enough to tame my feelings."

His words choke and he swallowed, completely oblivious that there

were spectators around. " Be mad at me for finally, Mira, for finally

taking what I really want."
