Mafia Kings: Adriano: Chapter 53
Mafia Kings: Adriano: Dark Mafia Romance Series #2
Using the information Roberto provided, we logged into the Swiss bank account on De Lucaâs phone so he could verify there were actually two million euros sitting in there.
I gave him the password and login, along with the necessary information to pull money out of the account.
Then we proceeded to the next stage.
I didnât want to risk another homicide cop interrupting us, so De Luca found a workstation in Robbery and booted up one of the computers. The place was deserted, so we had the room all to ourselves.
Once De Luca logged in, I said, âIâm looking for a woman named Bianca Lettieri.â
He typed in the information, then shook his head. âNobody by that name in the system.â
SHIT â
For a second, I panicked.
Had they already gotten to her?
Had I been wrong about Moretti, and heâd already turned her over?
Thatâs when I realized Bianca might have taken me literally when Iâd shouted instructions at her:
Donât say anything. NOTHING.
âCan you find all the women who were brought in over the last two hours?â
âYeah, sure,â De Luca said as he typed on the keyboard.
A single name came up: Maria Rossi.
The Italian equivalent of âJane Doe.â
âIs that the name she gave?â I asked, amused.
âNo, they put that in for anybody who wonât give their name.â
Good girl.
âWhere is she?â
âHolding cell in the womenâs detention center.â
âIs that far?â
âNo, itâs just down the block. A five-minute walk.â
âCan you pull her out? You have that authority?â
âIf itâs for a case, sure. Iâll put in a request and tell them Iâm coming to pick her up for questioning.â
âOkay, great. Now I got a question for you.â
De Luca looked at me worriedly. ââ¦what?â
âDo you know people who work at the courthouse?â
He frowned. âHuh?â
âYes or no â do you know anybody who works at the courthouse?â
âWell, I mean, Iâve had to testify in a dozen trials, so⦠I guess I know a couple of judgesâ names, but â â
âWhat about the people who actually work in the office?â
âUh⦠noâ¦?â
âDo cops ever deal with those people, the ones behind the scenes?â
âNot really, no.â
âGood.â
De Luca looked totally confused.
I didnât bother to explain. I just said, âI want you to check for another name.â
âOkay â what is it?â
âFabrizio Lettieri.â
De Luca typed it in.
ââ¦nope.â
I didnât really expect to find itâ¦
So I played my hunch from earlier.
The one Iâd come up with before Moretti had barged in.
âTry Fabio Flambeur,â I said.
âFlam what?â
âFlambeur. Itâs French.â
âHow do you spell it?â
âFuck if I know. Can you type in F-L-A-M and see what comes up? He wouldâve been booked last night, probably around 9 PM.â
De Luca typed F-L-A-M into the box for the last name and hit âEnterâ â
And a record for âFabio Flambeurâ showed up.
âYES!â I crowed.
De Luca looked at me like I was crazy, then turned back to the screen. âIt says they brought him in for a drunk and disorderly last night around 8:45. No ID on him. Spat on a police officer, apparently.â
I grinned.
If my hunch was right, Biancaâs dad was just as smart as she was.
âPull him out, too.â
âAlright,â De Luca said as he typed something in the system.
âGood â now letâs go. But get the girl out first, and donât tell her about the other guy.â
âAnything you say, boss,â De Luca said as he shut down the computer.
