Chapter 746 Hostage

The next day, Melissa woke up to find that she had slept through the whole afternoon.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes and tried to settle with the sudden brightness of light.

“Huh,” She purred and slightly opened her eyes.

Murray was sitting beside her, and when he saw her waking up, he immediately stood up and moved

towards the table placed there. “Have some water,” He forwarded a glass and was trying to

comprehend her movements.

Meanwhile, without looking at his face Melissa held the glass and took a sip from it. The extra silence in

the air was making Murray confused, he frowned and tried to spot the reason behind it.

“Maybe I am overthinking,” He shrugged.

The next moment he tried to break the silence and cleared his throat.

“Are you feeling better?”

His hand was now resting on her shoulder.

“Hmm,” She hummed.

The sudden change in her behavior was evidently noticed by Murray but he ignored it when the nurse

entered the room with a bowl of white porridge. A smile crept at his face when he thought about the

ways he was going to adopt to make Melissa eat that. “Look you have to…” He started but she cut him

in between.

“Give it to me,”

Surprisingly, she neither didn’t complain about the food nor did she show tantrums after looking at the

porridge which was an epic moment in itself.

Moreover, she obediently drank it without uttering a word. The scene in front of Murray was good but it

was making him uncomfortable. The unusual behavior of Melissa was enough to increase his worries.

“You aren’t complaining about anything today. What’s different?”

He jokingly said and raised his left eyebrow. But silence filled the air once again.

“If I tell him that I know the truth of the deteriorating state of my health then maybe he will start blaming

himself for everything.”

A thought struck Melissa’s mind. To avoid that, she decided to act normally.

“It’s nothing, it just feels delicious all of a sudden.”

“For a change I found that delicious. And when I saw that surprised expression on your face, I thought

it was worth it.” She smiled.

“You indeed surprised me today.” He nodded his head and took a sigh of relief as he threw all the

suspecting thoughts out of his mind.

“By the way we need to go to the police station. They asked about your presence only if you are feeling

better.”

Although he didn’t plan to tell her about it initially, he did otherwise. Now when Melissa started

cooperating with her treatment, he didn’t want any misunderstanding to change that again.

“They want to see me today. What’s the hurry for that?” she asked him.

“If you are not feeling well we can go there whenever you feel like. You don’t have to push yourself.” He

rubbed her back.

After giving it a long thought she said,” No! It’s fine for me…”

Before she could complete he stopped her,” But you have to promise me, If you will not feel good. You

are going to tell me and we will come back to the hospital without delay.”

Seeing the concern in his voice, she didn’t argue and nodded her head in agreement.

“I promise, I will do whatever you say. Happy now?” she asked him.

With a stern nod, he had put his arms around her and held her close to his heart. Although he wanted

to say so many things, he had no idea where to start. So, the two of them stayed for a few minutes,

saying nothing.

“I just want to see you like before. The healthy and strong Melissa who is rebellious and charismatic.”

He finally spoke.

Melissa fought back a rush of fresh tears, knowing what he meant, she nodded, waited until she was

sure she could speak, and said,” I love you. I won’t trouble you anymore.”

After last night, there was indeed no point for her to argue and ignore Murray’s words. She needed to

pay attention to his concern, she understood that.

Soon, Murray draped Melissa in a thick suit, as wind was blowing and he was afraid that she might not

catch the cold. At that moment Melissa realized that she had lost a few pounds and her already slender

figure had started losing her charm. She shook her head disappointingly and didn’t say much.

“Let’s go,” Murray held her hand and they moved out.

After half an hour

The car stopped at the gate of the Public Security Bureau.

On the way, Murray had already recalled the series of events and developments that happened in the

investigation, otherwise the police officer will show sacks of documents to Melissa which will be

tiresome for her. In order to avoid that, he briefly told everything to her.

Melissa nodded. As soon as they arrived at the Public Security

Bureau, the police took them to the new office of Jacky Knight.

This time it was located in an isolated place. It was a house in an old and turned building.

The place was so secretive that if Jacky wouldn’t have come to the hospital to meet Melissa that day

Most of the members of the investigation team had already circled the building and tried to find out

about what was happening inside.

“It seems like they are well prepared unlike previous times. Security guards are on duty and guns are

also placed inside. Instructions are already given to team members. The moment I will be inside, then

all of you will move faster.”

The police told the situation inside. If it weren’t for the fact that how well prepared Jacky Knight was,

the police would have already started.

Murray gave a complex expression as the situation there was undoubtedly tricky.

“The only way to deal with this situation is that we have to let our men who are skilled with martial arts

first so that there will be no use of guns until we reach the threshold. Once we will have hold of any of

Jacky’s men then we will have access to the information business that is happening inside and even he

will think twice to attack us.”

Murray analyzed, and the policeman on his side nodded, applauding his wisdom and smart approach.

Meanwhile Melissa was standing aside, Murray kept stealing glances at her and didn’t give her a

chance to speak.

“The people inside the building have already kept their guards up and if we make any noise they will be

more cautious so we have to be very careful while we enter.

Through the window, Murray spotted what was going on inside.

He instructed his men, and after they received the order, all of them silently moved towards Jacky’s

room.. The team members looked at each other, and after softly counting down to three, two, one, they

suddenly kicked the door and it opened. The leading bodyguard saw one of the employees closest to

him..

At the same moment they saw someone was trying to activate the explosives. But the leading

bodyguard was such a quick-witted and smart worker that he raised his gun and hit that employee’s

hand and he instantly fell on the floor.

“Raise your hands and sit on your knees. Right now.” The leading bodyguard shouted and all the

employees sat down instantly without any protest.

Seeing that the enemy was under control, the police and Murray rushed to the scene and handcuffed

them one by one.

Melissa hid behind Murray the whole time. She also wanted to go up to help, but with her current state

of health, she was afraid that it would be a disservice to them.

“Do not move!”

The next second, Jacky’s voice filled the air and everyone turned their heads at the source.

Everyone’s eyes were filled with fear as Jacky was standing there with a pistol in his hand and putting

the mouth of the pistol towards the explosives/.

The explosives were so dangerous that if any of them exploded then everyone would have perished

altogether.

Knowing Jacky’s character nobody dared to challenge him. He could do anything and a car accident

was one of its examples. “We can talk over it. Don’t be impulsive.” The police officer said but when they

saw Jacky didn’t stop then he shouted.

“I said don’t move!”

The police tried to stop Jacky, but they knew that Jacky wouldn’t hear a word, and the gun in his hand

was gripping harder.

“Put down the guns.”

He threatened the police in front of everyone and several police officers had to put their guns on the

ground. Meanwhile employees still didn’t dare to move, they were so dumbfounded as they had never

seen Jacky like that before..

For a second Jacky moved his eyes in the whole room and then his gaze stopped at the corner.

“Come here.”

He pointed to Melissa who was hiding behind Murray.

Everyone else present there took a sigh of relief as Jacky wanted

Melissa at his side, nobody else.

Murray clenched his fists tightly and gritted his teeth, “Don’t dare to think about it. Otherwise I can’t

guarantee what I will do to you.”

“And you think you are in a position to threaten me. The irony has already died one thousand times

after this, Mr. Murray Eurgen.” Jacky laughed louder but the shrewdness in his eyes was depicting a

more evil and dangerous story.

“If it is released, dozens of people in the room will be dead along with you. Then don’t blame me that I

hadn’t given you a chance.” Jacky said in a mocking tone.

“Melissa, be considerate, come here. Otherwise you will be the reason behind their deaths. Moreover, I

wonder whether you will be able to see the love of your life, your husband- Murray dying in front of your

eyes.” He directly called her.

When she didn’t move, he deliberately turned his pistol towards the explosive and was about to press

the trigger when she shouted, “Stop, I am coming.”

“Don’t worry, I will be fine.” Melissa whispered. Tears welled up in her eyes as she walked past Murray,

who kept calling after her.

“Melissa I am telling you, just don’t listen to him. Come back here.”

Murray held out his hand in her direction, but the next second, Jacky’s fierce look came back again..

Now the only way to stop Murray to reach Melissa who was standing there in utter dilemma was the

explosion and Jacky was willing to take the risk.Without delaying more, he reacted..

“boom–”

There was a loud noise, and Murray quickly picked up the gun on the ground and shot at Jacky’s arm.

“What have….”

Jacky cried out in pain, the gun in his hand dropped to the ground.

“It’s a fake gun!”

The police shouted loudly, and soon, the rest of the police team stood up and was ready to re-encircle.

But because Melissa was so close to Jacky, he temporarily ignored the pain in his hand and reached

Melissa who was trying to run towards Murray. Jacky held her, turned to the window and jumped.

“Hurry up, hurry up!”

Murray’s eyes were red, as Jacky had abducted his wife Melissa in front of everyone and they weren’t

able to do anything.

All the employees stayed in the house, and the police team also left a few police officers to look after

them, and then ran in the direction of Jacky.

The blood on Jacky’s hands continued to flow, and as he ran, blood spilled on the street.

Melissahad been trying to break free from his hand, but as she was still ill and had no energy she still

tried to hit him with her fist but unfortunately it wasn’t powerful enough to free her from his hold.
