Chapter 852
Mrs. Gibson, Your Identily Is Exposed
Chapter 852 Wishful thinking
Following Melissaâs advice, Harley sat on a corridor bench, as if an enemy was approaching and he
was some sort of guard looking over Nina. Melissa had left him and returned inside the ward and
Muray Gibson had just entered the ward some minutes ago with tie glasses on a tray; one filled to the
brim with water, the other filled with some sort of juice.
From the ward which was initially silent, he could hear echoes of voices conversing accompanied by
muffled sounds of laughter and he couldnât help but smile. As long as Nina was safe and sound and
happy, it didnât matter to him if she never forgave him.
Because he spent a greater half of the previous night in deep thought, he began to feel a little tired. But
that couldnât be compared to the emptiness he felt in his heart anytime he thought about resolving the
issue between him and Nina. Now that their daughter has already been born, at least for the sake of
their child, it was high time whatever misunderstandings and grievances between them be resolved.
While Harley was still buried in thought, footsteps approached where he sat. Sighing, he raised his
bowed head only to see Tom walking slowly with an insulated lunch box in his hand. Seeing this man
appear, the tiredness on Harleyâs face disappeared instantly and was replaced with an alarmed and
furious look.
âWhat are you doing here? Nina doesnât need your care!â Harley blurted out, jumping to his feet.
Looking at Harley coldly, Tom replied disdainfully: âMust you always display your shamelessness? Why
canât I come over to see Nina?â He paused to raise the insulation box in his hand, and said with a bit of
provocation: âDonât you see it? This is the pregnancy meal I made for Nina. Iâm not like you who only
boast but donât do anything for Nina!â
Harley knew where this was heading to. It was just one of Tomâs numerous ploys in an attempt to try to
win Ninaâs heart over. Sensing this, Timothy stopped at the door to prevent Tom from entering, staring
at him coldly and warning: âNina is my daughterâs mother. Youâd better get away before I do my worst!â
âDonât be too confident in yourself,â Tom retorted. âIn the eyes of Ninaâs parents, you are a scumbag
who is not as good as I am for their daughter.â
The two spent the next minute abusing each other verbally in front of the door of the ward. Soon
enough Nina heard Tom quarrelling with Harley in the hallway and had to ask Melissa to open the door
and invite him to avoid publicity.
âMr. Warren, Nina let you in,â Melissa said, smiling at Tom while casting a sympathetic look at Harley.
Hearing this, Tom sent Harley a cold star and satirized smirk before entering the ward with brisk steps.
Seeing this, Harley felt jealous and sullen in his heart. He wanted to get angry but had nowhere to vent,
so he could only sit back on the bench and let his hurt tear him apart from the inside.
A few minutes later, Melissa and Murray said their goodbyes and left, and Harley was left on the edge
of his seat. He wanted to rush into the ward to confront Tom but was worried that Ninaâs mood would
be affected. Creeping to the door of the ward, Harley saw Tom feeding Nina breakfast through the
crack of the door and his heart threatened to burst through his chest in rage.
âNina, now you need to supplement nutrition. I made it, especially for you. You should eat more,â
advises Tom, being the gentleman he was.
After drinking a mouthful of porridge, Nina said embarrassedly, âTom, Iâll be taken care of by my parents
for the next few days in the hospital. You still have to go to work, so donât run around every day.â
âI come here out of love. I do not feel burdened at all,â replied
Tom, his voice extremely gentle as he helped Nina to peel the boiled egg. âAs long as you want, I can
take care of you and your daughter for a lifetime!â
Upon hearing Tomâs offer, Nina didnât know how to answer. But after some thought, she politely
refused.
âTom, you are still young, you have your own life, I canât drag you down with my children.â
âNina, no one is dragging anyone down. If it wasnât for Mr.
Timothy, Iâm sure I would have been a father long ago,â Tom replied, sighing reluctantly. He was ready
to reunite with Nina and was willing to accept the newborn child.
Outside the door, Harleyâs eyes and ears grew red and he fought down the urge to rush at Tom out and
beat him up to a pulp. Clenching his fists tightly, Harley realized that if he did not fight now, not only
would he lose Nina, but even his daughter would grow up beside her adoptive father. Before he could
swing his attack into motion, a familiar voice from behind interrupted him, sending cold chills down his
spine.
âHarley, are you here to pester my daughter again?â
The voice belonged to Ninaâs father; Kasen Paul, and the sound of the question, Harley froze and when
he finally regained his strength, he turned to see Ninaâs parents glaring at him.
This time Harley acted very calmly. He knew he was the least favoured in Kasen Paulâs eyes, so he
tried as much as possible to remain calm.
âNo, Mr. Timothy. I just came to see Nina, and I am relieved to know that she woke up.â
âYou shouldnât pretend to be a good person at this time. If you cared about her, you wouldnât have done
anything wrong to her when she was pregnant!â Ariana, Ninaâs mother, spat, curling her lips in disdain.
Harley couldnât argue. Even though he had stayed sober and was completely off liquor for the past
couple of months, there was no way he could prove his innocence.
âSorry Mrs. Arianaâ¦â
Harley suppressed all his anger and knew he had to walk off, down the hallway and out of the hospital.
But deep down, he didnât want Tom to succeed in snatching Nina from him.
Just before leaving, Harley smiled at Kasen Paul and said calmly, âThen I wonât disturb Nina for now.
Anyway, Tom is taking care of her, so itâs not convenient for me to enter.â
Kasen Paul was stunned when he heard Tomâs name.
âWhat did you say? Tom is in the ward?â
Arianaâs expression also changed, and without waiting for Harley to respond, she hurried in followed by
Kasen Paul who en saw
Tom eating with Nina, and he was furious.
âTom, my daughter doesnât need you to take care of her! Take your things and leave immediately!â
Kasen Paul was also in a panic, seeing Tom sitting beside the hospital bed in a daze. He went straight
up and dragged Tom aside.
âI told you a long time ago that my daughter will never marry you in her life. Stop wishful thinking!â
Kasen Paulâs eyes were red, and he was interrupted by the shouting of Nina before he could finish
speaking.
âDad! Tom didnât do anything wrong, please donât be so violent!â
At this time, Nina was beginning to spot a headache. She knew that his parents did not like Tom from
the outset and they looked down on him mainly because of his rural origin.
But Kasen Paul turned a deaf ear to his daughterâs protest, grabbed
Tomâs collar and scolded: âYou should die. A poor boy like you is not worthy of Nina, you donât want to
eat swan meat anymore!â Almost immediately he pushed Tom into the corridor despite Ninaâs pleas
from the bed.
Seeing Tom being kicked out of the ward was Harley. He enjoyed it as Tom stumbled on the floor
beside him. Harley used the medium to vent his anger by hurling the cup of cold water at him.
âI warned you a long time ago, didnât I? Chasing after Nina would only result in you humiliating
yourself!â Harley mocked and was about to take a step forward when he saw Ariana bring out the
insulation box.
âDonât harass my daughter again, Nina wonât eat what you make!â Mrs Ariana warned. She then tucked
the incubator into Tomâs hand and closed the door of the ward tightly behind her.
