Chapter 532: Prompt Decision
The Substitute Wife: My Poor Husband Is A Billionaire
Janet felt absolutely nothing when she looked at Lilaâs bloodshot, tear-filled eyes. She actually just felt
like Lila was wildly ridiculous and like a clown putting on a show at the circus in that moment.
âYou wanted to take my life from me. I will not exact the revenge I deserve against you, purely for the
sake of my mother and father. It is impossible for me to forgive you. Youâd better pack up your things and
leave immediately.â
The look on Janetâs face was icy cold. When she had finished speaking, her eyes fell on Ethanâs injured
knee. She felt a lump in her throat come up again.
Ethan was injured because of her. How could she ever forgive Lila? If it werenât for Beal and Johannaâs
presence, she really wanted to give Lila a hard slap on the face. She also wanted to drag Lila down the
street and make her taste how it felt to almost be hit by a car. Ignoring Lilaâs hypocritical plea, Ethan
bypassed her and gently supported Janet.
âLet me help you back to your room. You have sprained your ankle. You canât go to work today.â
Then he turned to Beal and Johanna and said, âMr. and Mrs. White, I will take Janet to her room now.â
Seeing that Janetâs ankle was red and swollen, Ethan carried her in his arms and went upstairs. Beal
and Johanna sat on the couch with morose looks on their faces. Lila was still crying on the floor. Johanna
had creases between her eyebrows. It seemed like the ordeal had aged her several years in an instant.
Lilaâs bawling became more and more pathetic.
After a long time, Johanna looked up at Beal and said irritably, âHoney, give Lila her birth parentsâ
personal information and current address. We have to deal with this.â
Beal didnât object. He adjusted his glasses and looked at Lila with gravely.
âLila, Iâll inform your parents in advance that you will be returning. You can pack up your things and go to
them. Take away all your belongings now.â He paused for a few seconds and glanced at Johanna. Then
he continued, âWe will also give you some money so that you can live on with your life.â
âNo, Dad, Mom, I donât wantâ¦â Lila wiped her tears away. Her eyes had begun to sting. She collapsed
on the carpet and refused to leave. Leaving the family would mean that she would no longer be a White
family member.
All she had, the extravagant, rich life, the money, and the social status, would all fall away.
Lila refused to move and continued to cry her eyes out. Beal sighed heavily.
âI know it will be hard for you to take this. We will give you three days to pack up everything. But we donât
want to see you around here after that.â
Johanna was afraid that she would soften if she stayed at this piteous scene. She gathered her coat up
and got to her feet. She instructed a nearby servant who was busy cleaning, âGo to Lilaâs room and pack
up her things for her. If there is just too much jewelry and clothing to pack, call the moving company.
Thereâs no need to prepare lunch. We will be eating out.â
Hearing what Johanna said, Lila became more distressed than ever. She stood up and rushed to
Johanna. She held her leg and said, âMom, I donât want to be separated from you. I have never left your
side since the day I was born. You canât do this to me!â
Johanna pursed her lips. She squatted down and wiped the tears off Lilaâs face with her fingers. Her
voice was as gentle and kind as it had been when Lila was a child, but there was only coldness in her
eyes.
âLila, donât embarrass yourself anymore. You used to be the daughter of the White family. You should
keep your dignity when you leave. There are consequences that you must bear for your decisions. You
canât stay a child forever.â
When Lila heard her words, she was utterly flummoxed for a while. She was so out of it that she didnât
know when but Johanna and Beal had left. She watched their receding figures, covered her face and
burst into a fresh onslaught of tears.
