The Substitute Wife My Poor Husband is a Billionaire
Chapter 986 I Trust Her
Both Janet and Brandon glared daggers at Derek simultaneously. Janet fumed, âDerek, why do you
always speak gibberish?â
Derek also stepped out of the vehicle, hands in his pockets, and said, âIâm not talking balderdash. Itâs
true that Brandon jumped to conclusions and got angry because he didnât see Elizabeth and thought
that we two were having a date alone.â
Elizabeth quickly explained, âMr. Larson, be careful about what you think about Janet. Janet didnât have
dinner with Derek alone. I was there with them, but I had to use the bathroom at that time. I didnât
expect to cause such turmoil between you two. Iâm truly sorry.â âItâs okay. I just want a good reason as
to why you went as far as booking a suite.â Janet cast a sharp glance at Derek.
Elizabeth kicked Derek from behind and said, âWill you please talk? Why did you book a suite?â
Derek threw up his hands in surrender and protested his innocence. âI swear it has nothing to do with
me. Although I have feelings for you, I would never stoop to such underhanded tactics.â
He also took the opportunity to express his love, âIf I care about someone, Iâll only pursue them openly
and honestly.â
Janet found Derekâs words to be somehow logical. She reasoned that, although Derek was stubborn
and didnât listen to othersâ advice, he wasnât a complete scumbag.
âThen who could have done that?â Janetâs mind was racing. She wondered if the person who had
harmed her before might have taken action again.
Derek sat back in the car and said, âLetâs head back to the restaurant and get to the bottom of this.
Weâll find out whoâs responsible as long as we do some digging.â
He then turned to Brandon, who was standing behind Janet, and asked, âMr. Larson, should I drive you
there? But given your suspicious nature, you might probably accuse me of bribing the waitress to lie.
Mr. Larson, as a couple, you need to have faith in each other. If you donât trust Janet, then Iâll gladly
take her. Iâll have unwavering trust in her.â
Brandon held Janet close and replied, âMy wife has already explained everything to me. I believe
everything she said.â
âDamn!â Derek sneered and felt a twinge of pain in his heart as he watched Janet clinging tightly to
Brandon.
He looked away unhappily and was about to speak when his phone rang. It was Wilder.
As soon as Derek answered the call, Wilder shouted, âDid you go see Janet again?! The Larson Group
called me! Didnât I tell you to wait for me at the filming site? Huh?! The director and the camera crew
are all here, waiting for you!â
Wilder was so worked up that he could feel a migraine coming on. He hadnât had a momentâs peace
since he started working with Derek.
âAlright, alright. Iâll be right back,â Derek said, not wanting to put Wilder in a difficult position. After all, it
was Wilder who had gotten him this job.
Derek glanced at Brandon as he got off the phone and stated, âI must now go for the shoot. The
restaurant is conveniently close by. You can go there on foot on your own.â
Elizabeth hopped in the car, bundling her coat around her b*ody. âGive me a lift, will you?â She wanted
to give Janet and Brandon some privacy. She waved goodbye to Janet and declared, âIâm heading
home now. You two have all the time you need to talk.â
Derek started the engine and grumbled, âYouâre such a pain. Donât you have a boyfriend now? Why
donât you call him to chauffeur you home?â
âWatch your mouth! And just do your job. Drive!â Elizabeth gave Derekâs shoulder two firm pats.
It wasnât until the luxurious vehicle had gone for a long distance that Janet snapped out of it and
grinned.
âShall we go home?â After his outburst, Brandon regained his gentle demeanor.
âI think the scene the Larson Group employees just witnessed would make anyone want to curl up and
die! If we just sweep it under the rug, weâll probably be the subject of gossip for a long time. I want to
return to the restaurant and meet with the new Larson Group employees alongside you.â Janet also
wanted to confirm whether it was Derek who had booked the hotel room or not.
If it turned out it was indeed Derek, she would never associate with this two-faced scum again.
Brandon knew Janet well and understood that she desired to clear the air and nip any future potential
dangers in the bud.
âTheyâre all new around. I really should have a meal with them.â And so, Brandon returned to the
restaurant with Janet.
Before the party concluded, people began to speculate about Janetâs situation after noticing that
Brandon and Janet had left.
âItâs the first time Iâve seen Mr. Larson lose his cool. Heâs really a boss. Even when he was angry, he
was so commanding. He just turned on his heel and left.â
âDidnât you see the timid and frightened expression on Janetâs face when she scampered after him?
She must have crossed the line!â
âBy the way, Janet is so ungrateful. Mr. Larson has been nothing but kind to her. Why is she still so
amorous?â
At this point, Vivian emerged from the bathroom and returned to her seat. Seeing that the table not far
away was empty, she smugly smiled.
